Council representative Susan Zhuang had graffiti painted over on 13th Avenue and 61st Street. It’s not the best paint job, but it got right of the graffiti.

October 1, 2024We Don’t Call Justin Brannan Budget Nostradamus in Bay Ridge

Councilman Justin Brannan claims that people call him “Budget Nostradamus.” I don’t know anyone in Brooklyn who calls Brannan that name.

Most often, Justin Brannan is referred to as lobbyist-loving-politician in Bay Ridge.
Bay Ridge residents were annoyed with Brannan for the corrupt deals that went down on the 86th Street property (formerly Nathan’s) or the other school on 5th Avenue and 88th Street. (Info here)
Councilman Brannan made sneaky legislation. Brannan made a bill to make “a charitable gifts reserve for him and the current, NYC Comptroller, Brad Lander.” (See the bill) Brannan thought you wouldn’t know!

October 1, 2024PS 185’s Afterschool Program Was Restored

Only one school in Bay Ridge had their afterschool funds restored.

Thank you to the wonderful Community Education Council for rallying for PS 185.
It was disappointing to see PS 104 and other schools didn’t have their afterschool funding restored. Senator Andrew Gounardes should have made sure this was restored, as he filed to tell the community or parents in June when he was informed.

September 29, 2024Steve Chan’s Tenant Speaks Out Against Dirty Campaign Mailers

When someone is a good landlord, their tenant stays with them for decades! Steve Chan running for NYS Senate and his tenant has been with him for 25 years.
Chan was surprised when he saw the mailing that Democrats, who support Iwen Chu put out. They created a website to without speak to his tenants. The website says:

Iwen Chu should speak out against the slanderous piece against this hard working father.

Steve Chan’s tenant wrote a letter for him. She explained that Steve maintains the building, has not raised her rent in 18 years and he is a good landlord. She also explained that she sublet a room to a person, who reported the apartment to HPD and that’s how there was a violation on the building.

This week, Steve’s tenants attended his fundraiser! Chan’s tenants spoke on Steve’s behalf at the fundraiser. (See the video)

Senator Iwen Chu has to talk about the issues instead of allowing Democrats to do dirty politics.
Iwen Chu knew about the homeless shelter on 86th Street since last November and should have taken action for the community last Fall.

Brooklyn, we saw a similar dirty campaign when the Verrazano Victory group went after Ari Kagan. Andrew Gounardes, Grubhub and some LLC’s funded the Verrazano Victory group who went after Kagan. (See here) They made the slimy website and sent out a similar mailing.
A lot of people in the community are supporting Steve Chan because he has been standing with the community for a long time. If you see videos of the 86th Street homeless shelter area, you will see Steve in the background cleaning up the area.
It’s time for Iwen Chu and Steve Chan to debate. Iwen should make sure to keep the rest of the election clean, so she isn’t embarrassed after the election.
