Dead Body Found on the Rocks on Shore Road

Around 3:30 pm today, a dead body was seen near the rocks near the Shore Road Bike Path around 72nd Street. Update: It was the body of an 80-year-old man. (Source)
Who is this man and how did he wind up in the water?

Police and an ambulance were on the Shore Road Bike Path to recover the person’s body from the water.

December 24, 2024Fire on Narrows Avenue in Bay Ridge at 3:30 am

There was a fire around 3:30 am this morning at 8502 Narrows Avenue. (See Citizen)
There were flames on the first and second floor. Spectrum News 1 said this fire lasted for two hours, but thankfully there were no injuries.

Prayers for this family, who will have rebuild.

They also make amazing soup – years ago, a friend brought me Marina’s matzah ball soup. I didn’t think I liked that type of soup until I had Marina’s (so good!) All of the soups at Brooklyn Brew Cafe are delicious!

b) Brooklyn Market at 8102 3rd Avenue sold large latkes last year – next to the deli counter
c) Polonica 8303 – 3rd Avenue has potato pancakes (which are not the same)

3) The Coney Island Menorah will be lit on West 5th and Neptune at 4:30 pm.

Update: Water was turned back on tonight for these residents.

Water was shut off on 77th to 80th Streets off 3rd Avenue due to a water main break.
It could be causing this flooded basement on 78th Street:

December 22, 2024RIP Basil Capetanakis

We were sad to hear that Basil Capentanakis died. (Info)

When we first moved to Bay Ridge, was saw Basil’s name in the newspaper all the time. He was a realtor and owned 14 Apollo Real Estate. Basil was also a civil leader. We met him in person at a celebration and he was a very pleasant man.

Basil Capetanakis served as Community Board 10 Member for 20 years and was Chair from July 1992 through June 1995.
Assemblyman Brooks-Krasny shared this:
