We might as well have a robot or AI be the senator for Bay Ridge.
Andrew Gounardes thought posting a graphic is how you honor black history month. There has to be more to elected leaders than posting a graphic with Obama on it.

1) The Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade is selling the hats above for $20.00 (See here) and a t-shirt shirt with the design below for $25.00.
On March 8th, they will be selling new merch from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at Pippins Pub at 8814 – 3rd Avenue.

Grandma’s Bakery Had a Fire This Morning
Around 4:00 am this morning, Grandma’s Bakery on 13th Avenue and 72nd Street had a fire. By 5:15 am, the fire was put out. (See videos)

AJ Bagels is Opening on 4th Ave & 92nd Street
AJ Bagels hung a fresh sign at 9102 4th Avenue.
Many people in the area will be glad to have a new bagel store nearby, especially if they have good bagels! It looks like they will be opening soon!

Electrical Fire on 74th Street in Bay Ridge
Around 11:30 pm, there was an electrical fire underground on 74th Street between Ridge Blvd. and 3rd Avenue.
Citizen app showed: “Firefighters have identified a significant arcing condition in two nearby maintenance hole.”

Campania in Bay Ridge Will Reopen The First Week of February
Campania Restaurant on the corner of 4th Avenue and 99th Street will reopen next week. A fire in the building caused Campania to be closed since the beginning of December. (Info)
Ridgites missed Campania and everyone will be glad to see them reopen!

RIP Jonathan Campos, Pilot In American Airlines Crash Had Roots in Brooklyn
There was a horrible accident near Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC last night.
A military Black Hawk helicopter collided into an American Airlines plane. The helicopter should not have been flying at that height. There were no survivors – sixty-seven people died. (News)
The plane captain, Jonathan Campos was killed. He graduated from I.S. 303 and then John Dewey High School on Stillwell Avenue (across from Coney Island Creek) in 2008. His teacher, Lane Rose shared the photo above to honor Jonathan’s memory.
The United States figure skating team was on the plane. May they rest in peace.
Prayers for all the families who lost loved ones in this horrible accident. Saint Athanasius Church shared this:
