Andrew Gounardes is Not Discussing An Affordable NYC with Bay Ridge Because He Isn’t Doing Anything About Property Taxes

Senator Andrew Gounardes spent another day posting pictures and writing about himself. Gounardes said he was discussing how to have a safe and affordable New York for all.

Gounardes won’t have that meeting in Bay Ridge because he is the man who is the head of the Budget and Tax Revenue Committee in the New York State Senate. Andrew is the one who is supposed to change the property taxes, but he’s too busy playing on social media. (*Andrew receives additional money for being on this committee.)
In Albany, Andrew Gounardes has not spoken out about uneven property taxes. Other state senators who Gounardes was friendly with told me they had no idea that property taxes were so high in Gounardes’ district.
In January, Gounardes posted a link to an article about a lawsuit. There has been a lawsuit over property taxes for years, by now Andrew Gounardes should have taken action. (See here)

February 7, 2025OLPH School in Brooklyn is Closing

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School in Sunset Park, Brooklyn is closing in June due to financial constraints and low enrollment.
Tuition is $5,500 for the year. There are only thirteen teachers listed on the school’s website.
It’s very sad to see this news because OLPH school was open for 122 years. (See their note here)
It was at OLPH school that many Brooklynites learned, made lasting friendships and became part of an incredible community that stayed with them even when they left Brooklyn.
For many of us, OLPH was where we learned to pray and the first time we spoke with a priest. Many alumni remember Fr. McGowan. He used to tell the best stories. I found him on FB. (See video)

Current students at OLPH may attend St. Ephrem School, which is the next closest elementary school.

On Saturday, May 17th, there will be a Farewell Mass and Reception for OLPH School. Take a tour from 2:00 – 4:30 pm. Mass at 5:00 pm in the Church. Reception to follow at Notre Dame Hall (enter on 59th Street) $20 Email: [email protected]

February 5, 2025Wheels Stolen on 10th Avenue & 82nd Street

Last Tuesday, the wheels were stolen off this vehicle on 10th Avenue & 82nd Street in Dyker Heights. It was left on milk crates.
The SUV was placed on jacks to avoid further damage as the owner awaits a wheel delivery.

This is awful. We feel terrible for the owner, who had to come out to this and spend thousands to get new tires.
