Christmas Cards Shouldn’t Contain Bad News

A Christmas card is a card which is suppose to wish someone’s family good wishes during a holiday. Why do people feel the need to add news about their health or their family members health? You can send a note all year long about the status of someone’s health, but on Christmas let people have their peace.

Where was God During the Sandy Hook Shootings?

I see a lot of people asking the question “Where was God during the Sandy Hook Shootings?” Years ago I would have been right there with them asking the same question.

God didn’t create the evil in the world. God gave people free will and some people use that free will to create evil. And although mental illness is not evil, parents, families and those who know about the mental illness of an individual and don’t seek help for that person are creating a problem for society.

God didn’t promise us a life free of pain as we are here on earth. That’s why there is Heaven.

When I heard someone that I admire for their spirituality write:”God be with the parents and the people in Sandy Hook, Connecticut.” I thought that wasn’t quite right. I’m sure my friend thought he was writing kind words, but those words don’t express God. God was with the people in Sandy Hook since before this incident happened because God was always with them. You will see some unbelievable stories of faith over the next few weeks as these children’s parents share their experiences. Robbie Parker, the father of Emilie Parker, recently said: ““My daughter Emilie would be one of the first ones to be standing and giving her love and support to all those victims, because that’s the kind of person she is. Not because of any parenting my wife and I could have done, but because those are the gifts that were given to her by her heavenly Father.” At this awful time of grieving, Mr. Parker could have turned away from God, but he is professing his faith because his relationship with God is obviously very strong. Robbie Parker knows Emilie is with God because it says so in John 14:2-4(John 14:2-4 In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”).

When I hear people question God’s presence, I know how they feel because I have been there. God doesn’t mind the questioning. In fact, I am pretty sure He he likes it because when you get past your grieving and blaming, you will get to the answer that God was always present. (Exodus 33:14, God told us: “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”)

If you know me in person, you know that I rarely pray out loud. Even when someone asks me to pray over them, I will pray in my mind. Recently I was present for a friend’s departure and in desperation I prayed out loud in front of friends and strangers, a  voice even I didn’t recognize as my own, prayed:  “Lord be with us.” And because I don’t pray out loud regularly, friends told me that prayer echoed in their head. But I wish it didn’t because those words show to me that doubt that God’s presence is always with us. God is always with us.

I pray that the families feel God’s presence as Emilie’s Dad, Robbie Parker does.

Why Do Mothers Ignore When They Children Have Mental Problems?

Adam Lanza, the Connecticut shooter obviously had mental problems. As more is being learned about the shooter, people are coming out saying, “Something Wasn’t Right About Him.” And everyone wants to know why didn’t his mother seek help.

I can answer that one for you. Some mothers think they are to blame when something is wrong with their children. So to go to a doctor and hear a doctor say that confirms to the mother that her genes caused the problem in her child’s life. I know of several mothers who didn’t handle problems with their children and now that their children are adults and they are adults with mental problems.\

Mothers who ignore the problem and hope it goes away are only leaving the problem for society.

People are searching for Adam Lanza’s Facebook page now, but earlier today they were searching for Ryan Lanza’s FB page because Adam was found with Ryan’s ID on him.

Sandy Hook Elementary School

The shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School is devastating – 20 small children are dead. I can’t imagine how horrible it must be to a parent who lost their child this way.

There are just so many mentally sick people in the world.

Chase Refinance from Hell Part III

Over the past week, I have spoken with more Chase employees than I care to speak with in a lifetime. IMHO, most seem to have chosen the wrong career in life.

I’ve spoken to several SVPs and you would think that someone who is experienced in banking would easily know what to do if a problem came about that was slightly different than the usual problem with accounts.

Christmas has Started Round Here

We visited the most amazing looking Santa tonight. He wore an old world Santa suit and he really made you feel like he might be Santa. The kids weren’t afraid (at all!) and they walked over to talk with him easily.

And my old friend and I sat down for a cup of Joe and exchanged gifts as the kids ran around.  There’s nothing I need or even want this Christmas…as I am pretty content with what I have.

I bought my friend the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

AND

SHE

BOUGHT

ME

ONE

TOO!

We didn’t tell each other before, but at some point both of us mentioned getting this during the summer!  And I am so grateful for having a good friend!

Top Five Gifts for Guys Who Like Tools

Gifts for men in your life really depend on what type of guy they are. Now Lee is a tool and technology guy. He loves gadgets.  If you gave a gadget to a person like my Dad was, then it wouldn’t be used or appreciated (those men like DVDs and chocolate covered pretzals).

These gifts are for men who love tools:

1) Lee wants this device that connects to his shop Vac and collects dust. Lee’s workshop is very tidy.

He didn’t tell me directly that he wants it. He watches the YouTube Video for the Oneida Dust Deputy and the Rockler Dust Right Sucker (I don’t know what the last word was for that device as I didn’t write it don and I am going from memory)

So Lee’s like a kid when he wants something. He shows me the item over and over and asks me if I think it is cool, useful and if I like it. (Why would I like it?) Maybe he doesn’t want to say he wants it because he thinks it will ruin “the surprise,” but he definitely hints a lot.   I don’t know which one he really wants or which is better, but I will do some research and figure it out this week.

2) Last year, I gave Lee the Milwaukee Multitool and he liked it so much that he purchased it for a few friends throughout the year. This is a great tool for new home owners because it is able to do a lot of things.

3) The super long screwdriver makes the perfect stocking stuffer and gift inwhich everyone who sees it being opened goes “oooooooooooooooooo.”  Without a ladder, we can reach a ceiling fixture with this super long screwdriver – I think it’s 24 inches long. Over the year, so many people have asked to borrow this screwdriver to get to tight places (like under or behind the washing machine).

Ok so I know I said five things, but I have to get the other two from Lee and he is asleep. I am loading this anyway as I know my friend is waiting for #2 and #3

Solar Powered Christmas!

I bought solar Christmas lights this year. You are probably thinking, “Wow Queenie is really into conservation and preserving the earth.”  Nope, I’m sorry to say that isn’t me. I’m actually not that good at recycling and conservation. But thankfully Lee is. He is the Recycling and Conservation King.

So I bought him several solar Christmas lights sets because I knew that would make him happy and he would actually want to hang Christmas lights! And I was right!

We set the lights outside for two days because they need two days to charge. You can actually put them up before they are charged, but I wanted to make sure they worked and that we liked them before I put them up.  Last week it wasn’t very sunny, but the cloudy provided enough energy to charge the lights. And while solar lights in the past have been weak, these new sets are bright and offer luminous light. Over the years Lee has purchased many solar powered lights, but these are by far the best solar lights being sold right now. These globes stay lit until morning, when they blink every few minutes because they are running low on energy.

We have these sets on our trees throughout around the yard.  We were quite impressed and our backyard looks amazing! They are Britta Solar lights and I purchased them at Amazon

And I bought this set to wrap around an artificial wreath that we had. This set is good, but not great because the picture showed that the lights were multicolored, when in fact they are just three colors (red, blue and green – there are no gold or yellow lights).

The Britta company who made the lights doesn’t know me and I don’t know them. I’m just a regular person posting a review for an item that was actually worth buying. But if you are reading this Britta Company, Lee would like you to make the globes have the ability to blink randomly because it would be so much cooler.

Guys and Headbands

My friend complained to us about her boyfriend’s headgear of choice. She said, “I feel like I am walking around with Jane Fonda because he is sporting this winter headband.”

We instantly started laughing and couldn’t stop for a long time.

Her man is wearing this:

And although you may think you look cute in it, women who grew up in the 80’s instantly think of Olivia Newton John.

Needless to say her man will be getting a hat for Christmas this year!

Love that Taylor Swift Beat-Boxes

I’ve been a fan of beat boxing since I saw Blake Lewis on American Idol five years ago.

Taylor Swift was beat boxing at the Grammys. Critics said she was embarrassed and they came down on Swift for her performance. But I loved it. I love to see someone move out of their element and try something different. We don’t all have to be perfect at every single thing and I think that’s a good message for kids too.

And if you want to learn to beatbox:
