Chase and the Refinance from Hell Part 3
Leon does not get angry….like ever. Seriously if you know Leon, you know he doesn’t take anyone or anything to seriously so nothing bothers him. EVER.
Today we got a GFE. A GFE is a Good Faith Estimate. It was quite different from the first.
It’s not that I memorized the numbers……BUT I DID. Not because I wanted to, but it’s in my genes. My father was a mathematician and once I see a set of numbers, they are easy to remember. Plus I think I remembered it because I like to know what bills I have to pay.
So today’s GFE was double what the original cost was suppose to be. (The original was 7K – this was 14K). Lee thought I made a mistake, but before I returned with old GFE from Chase, he was mad. He knows I know numbers. As I walked back to him, he said “It’s what you said it is?” I said yes and he wrote to Chase today. Tomorrow, he said he would contact their corporate offices and find someone who can help him there.
Writing to Chase might be a good idea if this was a regular office where there were people who liked their jobs. But at this office, I’ve already written to the mortgage processor’s supervisor and it’s 10 weeks in and no one is helping us.
One of the biggest problems we have encountered is finding supervisors of these workers. The bank manager and even the Vice President of the branch does not manage them and that VP will not give you the name of the mortgage processor’s supervisor (ours told us to go ask them). So you can only get a supervisor’s name if you ask the person you are working with for the supervisors name, which naturally makes them annoyed. You would think their website would have it, but it doesn’t.
Update: Lee received a response from the two supervisors. Neither said they were going to handle the account and he asked for their supervisors names because their e-mail just blamed another department for not responding. Lee can’t sleep even though he has work tonight.
**Readers – iF you don’t know about refinancing a mortgage, do a google search and you will see it should be a lot easier because it’s not a mortgage – it’s just changing the rate because interest rates have gone done. And you will also see that it doesn’t take this long to do. **

December 1, 2012Robert Tornatore – Chase Fail
So Chase bankers still haven’t decided if our home is a one or two family. The city register says it is a two family, but the appraisal the bank did three years ago when I purchased the home says it is a one. At closing, Leon and I saw the words TWO FAMILY HOME on the mortgage papers.
I spoke with the Mortgage processors supervisor yesterday. He wasn’t able to quote the mortgage rate over the phone so I e-mailed him and my e-mail went unanswered. Are you sensing the same trend I a,m? Yup CHASE FAIL

December 1, 2012Friends and Staircases
Our friend came over for breakfast and to help Leon get the day set up. His kids and wife are coming over later. When he walked in he, commented about Leon’s molding work. When he went downstairs, he said we have the best looking staircases because he liked the stripes on the rug. 8D
I don’t think most people who visit our house have seen the stripes because the door to downstairs is closed.
Here’s Lee’s board and batten in the hallway:
Scary thing about the picture above: That’s an orb in the picture (on the floor). I checked the spot and photographed it several times as well because I thought there was a problem with the floor. Nope – just our house ghost. :D

December 1, 2012Haul Out the Holly
I haven’t been in the best mood this week because I feel like the mortgage processors at Chase is taking advantage of us because she doesn’t want to work. On Monday it will be ten weeks since we started the paperwork on this refinance. I understand things take time, but the Chase mortgage processor has let our paperwork just sit on her desk instead of communicating with the other departments. Calls and e-mails weren’t returned for four days. In 2012 when JP Morgan Chase must have supplied employees with communication devices, delays in communication should not be an issue.
These employees at Chase are not supervised by people in their building so it is difficult to find out their supervisor. I’ve asked several employees for the name of their supervisor and had more than one ignore my request, so I’ve had to ask a second time. When I asked the two supervisors of the mortgage processors to step in and other management to help me, they send generic messages or will speak with a patronizing tone on the phone. No one has said, “We will take care of this and have it done by tomorrow.” Their laziness is costing us money because we are still paying the mortgage at the old rate when we were approved for the new rate in October. Our paperwork was done right away and submitted by the beginning of October. Many employees just have a job at Chase because they can’t do anything else and need to something for work. When people don’t do what they love, customers suffer. A refinance shouldn’t take longer than a mortgage, especially when the customer’s paperwork was done in the beginning of October.
As a side note, I have told my friends who don’t like to work to apply for a job at Chase because the supervisors don’t work in the same building and I haven’t found anyone who is accountable to their boss yet.
————————————————–
So it’s time to Haul out the Holly and put up some Christmas items. I wish I was feeling a bit more spirited because we’re having the cousins over today. In the next hour, I’m going to put on some Christmas music, light some Christmas candles and get Lee to grab the decorations.

November 27, 2012The Important Stuff
The election came and went. Before the election, the word “Tea Party” could be heard on televisions throughout the country and people quickly scampered to be on one party’s side or the other. When the election was over, the word tea party or Romney fell to the side and was never mentioned again. Why? Because it wasn’t important. And what happened to all those people who declared that they would leave the United States if Obama was re-elected? They are all still here sitting in silence because they realize how ridiculous it was to make such statements. It was just the fluff that filled our days and people tried to make it look like it was important.
Hurricane Sandy came in and destroyed a lot of peoples homes. In the days that followed the hurricane, everyone was and is continuing to help out. This is the important stuff of life……….people and making soup for people :)
People that fill our days with happiness, some that leave this world quicker than we like and all the laughs in between.
I didn’t have a chance to make a Thanksgiving post this year, but I am so grateful for life and all the people who share my days.

November 26, 2012One of the hardest things I had to do………..
I got the call that you were sick and to come quick. “Come quick,” rings through my mind almost everyday since. What if I was quicker? Or what if I hadn’t gone at all? Somehow I think that neither would change the amount of sadness I feel now.
When I saw you lying there and your chest barely moved up and down, I knew you were near the end. As I sat before you and tears streamed down my face, I retold every story I could remember that I thought would make you laugh if you could hear me. And prayed that God would take you quickly. It’s not that I wanted you to go my friend – it’s that it hurt so much to see you so lifeless and although they said you weren’t in pain, I think you were. I am grateful that I was called ‘to come quick’ because we were such good friends. But I know that if I wasn’t called, you already knew every word that I said and felt. You were such a kind and loving and we were all blessed to have known you & to have been loved by you.
I wish you were older and you have lived longer. I remember being so scared at my house and I called you up and you woke up from a sound sleep. My nervous words that ended with “hurry up and come over here” meant enough that you rushed to my house made sure it was safe. Years later I made an identical call to you and told you I heard noises in my new home. I was alone and you “came quick” to check out what was causing the mysterious noise in my house.
When your heart stopped, the machine let out a long beep that drowned out every noise in the hospital. I saw the nurses remove all the wires and many said words to me, but I was frozen in time and was still hearing the death beep. I just stood there FOR A LONG TIME. You had left on your journey to heaven and I was standing in a hospital room with strangers. I don’t know how long I was standing there and can barely remember leaving the hospital, but the only words I said for the next few hours were…..”that’s it.” And I cried A LOT. I have never felt such a deep sadness before.
Saying goodbye to you was the hardest thing I have ever had to do…………Thank you for rushing to my home, being my friend and giving me the opportunity to “come quick” and say goodbye. Goodbyes are never easy for me. I will miss you my dear friend.

November 19, 2012Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I like the feeling in the air, the non-rushed holiday feeling and of course all the great food.
This weekend I had the opportunity to help some people and although I was helping them, it really helped me more.
I feel so blessed and loved. Praying that you all feel the same.
—————————————–
I came home to a lot of surprises around the house. I will take some pictures to show you all, but needless to say Leon rocks. My friend said to me, “Leon rocks SERIOUSLY.” Yup he does.

November 16, 2012Gorgeous bedding
Everyone loves Anthropologie bedspreads, quilts and comforters. Usually the rouching in the fabric makes it look flowy and we love that.
The Rossette bedding is beautiful.
Target has a pretty bedroom set and it’s inexpensive.
![]()
Urban Outfitters duvet cover called Waterfall comes in many colors and the ruffles are pretty!
Soft Surroundings has an outlet and they always have codes for the site. The Paige quilt is so pretty!
JCPenny’s Avilla bedding is pretty.
Bed Bath and Beyond has the Anthology set (and there is always a 20% off coupon code around for this store too) so this set will be cheap!
Very similiar pretty looks! I love Anthropologie and stores with pretty housewares! Oh and I saw this coverlet and I thought it was so cute.

November 11, 2012Mike S
Dear Mike S – we saw you in the mall today with your wife. It’s been many years since I have seen you.
The bald spot on your head shined from the mall lights.
And I came home and thought about all the stupid things we did as teens. So I picked up the phone and called someone from long ago and we laughed so much.

November 4, 2012Things Can be Replaced
We were in Staten Island today helping a friend of a friend. I was glad I was there because I wanted to help, but I really just wish the storm never came and hurt so many people. Everything has to be thrown away and they will need to start over again. I feel drained today and felt like we weren’t doing enough to make anything better. And my eyes have cried enough tears these last few days because I know how much goes into making a house a home and it’s terrible that so many people lost their place of comfort.
*Lee has been working 16 shifts all week (plus an hour to get there and back). He hasn’t had a day off in 9 days. I came home, woke him up and we at grilled cheese together before he left. I’ve barely seen him all week. Tonight was the first time in 19 years that he didn’t want to go to work. If you know Lee, you know he LOVES (REALLY LOVES) his job. Hopefully by Monday he will be able to take some time a day off and rest.*
: ( I need to go to sleep and hopefully I will feel like my hopeful self in the morning. I’m still grateful to God for everything because things – even houses can be replaced, but people can’t. Say some prayers for me friends.
