Verrazzano Bridge Toll Going Up to $19
Councilman Brannan chimes in about the rising toll cost. Senator-Elect Gounardes needs to call on his friend Governor Cuomo and get Bay Ridge residents the same discount that Staten Island residents have.
The article is missing a lot of history, so I am not linking up. The reporter left out that Assemblywoman Malliotakis and Senator Golden were unsuccessful about getting any changes to the toll for residents. Golden and Malliotakis took a lot of pictures in front of the Verrazzano Bridge entrance and published them in our papers, but that’s about it. Why can’t the paper say the truth about that?
Will a Democratic Senator be able to work a deal for our community? I think so.

December 3, 2018Eric Adams Wants to Rally Instead of Picking up the Phone for Store Owners
Eric Adams and Raphael Espinal want to rally…….instead of making a pot of coffee and and getting things done. Espinal also wants to be Public Advocate, but clearly he doesn’t know how to advocate for New Yorkers if he is going to make them stand outside on the steps of City Hall in the WINTER.,
Tomorrow evening, on the news we are going to see some NYC politicians doing some cheesy acting with some middle class store owners, who don’t want to be on camera, but don’t want to pay $6,000 $8,000 fines either. Instead of getting things done, politicians are using store owner’s hard luck for their own gain and media attention.
Borough President Eric Adams could have invited everyone to Borough Hall and had his staff make tea (Eric Adams probably doesn’t drink evil coffee anymore now because of his health kick) and then Adams could have called Commissioner Chandler of @NYC_Buildings and gotten the situation straightened out…..and been the hero.
Eric Adams solutions to problems never comes close to solving anything! The situation just fades away and when it arises again, Eric Adams acts like it is a new problem that he has never seen before. Example: Racism in Brooklyn let’s rally and ride the bus……three weeks later Racism in Brooklyn – hey let’s rally….November 2018 – Racism/hate crime – press conference rally. This has been going on for a long time, but no one is watching him.
Please Democrats – do not put Eric Adams up for ANY other office. We didn’t appreciate Eric Adam’s endorsement for his crony over our new Assemblywoman (who deserved his immediate endorsement). I wrote to Adams and Eric Adams refused to remove his endorsement, even when it was obvious that the people’s candidate was much more qualified. Adams and his cronies thought they could block a woman, but the people voted her in.
Adams is counter-productive to our neighborhood in South Brooklyn and I hope when his term is over (he’s term-limited this time), he goes to do something in the private sector. I would vote for Nicole Malliotakis before I would vote for Eric Adams….and that says a lot.

December 3, 2018Fedex Driver Hit Funeral Attendee Outside of Mosque in Sunset Park, Brooklyn
Outside of Beit Al-Maqdis mosque 6206 – 6th Avenue in Sunset Park, a FedEx truck backed up & hit a 46 year old man who was attending a funeral service.
A huge brawl started between the Fedex workers (a driver and helper) and the funeral attendees. The mourners surrounded the Fedex truck to stop it from driving away.
It has been reported that one Fedex employee pulled out a knife and the other punched a mourner. One of the mourners punched one of the Fedex workers. Both Fedex employees and the mourner were arrested. Story here

December 3, 2018Malliotakis Finds Freshman Assemblyman Reilly to Play Reindeer Games with deBlasio – Instead of Tackling the Drug Issue
Nicole Malliotakis and Assemblyman-elect, Mike Reilly join forces to beat on Mayor de Blasio and have mayoral control removed because of findings in Comptroller Scott Stringer report about some strange spending at certain schools.
This is why nothing gets done!
NYC spent 22.4 million on Naloxone (see here) Yet, very little is being done about the drug problem.
Nicole Malliotakis has been taking to social media to seek revenge on Mayor deBlasio.
Malliotakis has teamed up with other “new” Republican lawmakers in the past and wasted time as well.
When Joe Borelli started, there was the Apple Education Plan that Malliotakis was pushing. It was terrible and easily pushed to the side by Assembly Democrats because it was outdated. I tried talking to Malliotakis about it and she didn’t want to hear it. Joe Borelli listened and he said the plan was “a start.” Soon after, Borelli made his own way and stepped away from Malliotakis.
Malliotakis teamed up with Ron Castorino to go after IDNYC. While the two could have written a law to make things safer/better, Malliotakis was trying to take a jab at Mayor deBlasio. At the end nothing happened – just time and energy wasted by all. In May 2017, Castorina was one of the few Staten Island politicians to endorse Nicole for Mayor. In November 2018, Castorina ran for a judge position against the well-loved Matthew Titone
Guys – there is a huge drug problem in Staten Island. Could you not play reindeer games and call out Mayor deBlasio when he hasn’t even had a chance to see what is going on with the situation.
Maybe write a bill together to help Staten Island and oh yeah – the whole State of New York, as your are lawmakers.
It’s strange that Mike Reilly would associate with Nicole Malliotakis as Malliotakis endorsed Yost over Reilly. Now she wants to cling to him! Politicians are strange.
When I tweeted to Mike that his constituents deserveed better, his response as ta ta. Reilly hasn’t learned that as an Assemblyman you don’t get to “ta ta” people when they are asking about legislation. If Mike Reilly’s wife asked about legislation, he wouldn’t want his wife to receive the rude response I received from him.
Reilly is a former NYPD officer and EVERY time I have spoken to him online I have got the feeling that he can’t hear anyone else. Yesterday, Mike reminded me I blocked him on social media, so I went to see why I blocked him. The reason I blocked him was because parents are able to opt their children out of testing. Reilly didn’t think parents know that (they do – the ones who want to know, know it). The ones who skip meetings don’t.
If politicians don’t want to talk to people on social media, turn off social media on your phones (or turn it off on Sunday if you are just a Monday to Friday type of person).
Most people work those days and don’t have a chance to catch up to the local news until the weekend. Answering something on twitter a day or even a few days later is fine.

December 3, 2018Theresa Monforte-Caraballo – Bay Ridge’s Angel
Theresa Monforte-Caraballo is Bay Ridge’s angel. Monforte-Caraballo started Grandma’s Love. She puts together bags of food for children to bring home with them on the weekends. She doesn’t just do Thanksgiving. Theresa gives extra care to families who need it all year long.
In one article where Theresa was interviewed, she wrote about providing kids with a turkey and Thanksgiving Dinner so their families could be together. Theresa notes that she wanted the kids to be able to talk about their Thanksgiving with other kids when they returned to school the next week. I read that and cried because it was so spot on.
Besides collecting canned foods, Monforte–Caraballo is collecting new hats, gloves, socks for kids. In August, she collected school supplies to make sure kids have what they need to start school. Throughout the year, Theresa collects gently used books as well. Her organization, Grandma’s Love – donate or volunteer.
