Curtis Sliwa Will Fire Himself

Curtis Sliwa wouldn’t be my first choice for Public Advocate.

But now Sliwa says, “If elected, he will fire himself and elimate the Public Advocate office.”

INTERESTING.

Do we believe the Public Advocate Office is necessary?  I haven’t seen anyone prove it is.

A lot of candidates who are running for Public Advocate are connected to the machine or de Blasio. Sliwa may have made himself another choice for NY’ers.

RIP Kevin Fay

We were so sorry to hear the news about Kevin Fay.

The Great Kevin Faye

I knew Kevin long before I moved to Bay Ridge. When we first met, we realized we went to the same elementary school – OLPH.  Each time I saw him, even if I didn’t see him for a long time, he would call me his OLPH friend.

I think most of South Brooklyn knew Kevin. He was a friend to everyone and he knew everyone’s story. He made connections with people easily because he valued people and their friendship.

Kevin Faye

Kevin was also an amazing cook and Bay Ridge enjoyed his cooking for years at Circles. Fay was part owner of Circles Restaurant.

I imagine the gates of heaven opened and everyone who Kevin took care of over the years greeted him for a huge party….with great food.

Prayers for Kevin’s family.

Clavin’s Funeral Home 7722 – 4th Avenue      Saturday 7-9 pm    Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm

Mass at OLPH 59th Street and 5th Avenue in Brooklyn  – on Monday at 10:30 am.

NYPD Doesn’t Meet South Brooklyn’s Needs

Councilman Justin Brannan and Community Board 10 Manager, Josephine Beckmann are two amazing people. They wrote this Op-Ed for Bklyner.

Beckmann has asked for help before this year and she was turned down because the NYPD refuses to listen. This situation has been going on for a few years and it’s like the NYPD closes it’s eyes when Christmas comes around. See last year’s reporting – here.

Now here’s the real issue: We have a Community Affairs police officer, why didn’t he call for more help for the area? It’s like there is such a disconnect between the 68th Precinct and the community.

Maybe it’s not a top priority for security, but why weren’t NCO’s all over that area. Why didn’t the NCO’s stop commercial traffic from entering these streets. Huge buses don’t belong on residential streets.
