Another Blackout in Dyker Heights This Morning
Dyker Heights had its third blackout in two weeks. This time it was shorter and seemed to affect less people.11th and 12th Avenue seemed okay this time.

My friend just purchased a home and moved there in January so this is a lot for newcomer, but it’s all part of the welcoming experience.

Man was Beaten in Bay Ridge..Everyone is Silent

Two weeks after a man is beaten by four men on 5th Avenue between 71st and 72nd Street in Bay Ridge, the 68th Precinct release some fuzzy pictures. The victim was walking on 5th Avenue and bumped into a woman. Her family members came back and beat him up after words were exchanged.

Why did the 68th Precinct wait three weeks before saying anything?
There’s no mention of the incident or that several men (4) took on one man…..for a reason no one has reported on or talked about. The man who was attacked was in the hospital with broken ribs. The NCOs from the area told my husband that they visited the man.

We have all of these local reporters yet no one wrote about it. Did the police keep the story from them? Nicole Malliotakis is the Assembly woman for the area and she isn’t here, so she probably doesn’t know it happened. I asked Councilman Brannan about it and as always he is very forth-coming with info.

The NYPD has a Community Affairs officer who is supposed to be relaying information to community. Why isn’t he? Many people have been waiting to hear information for weeks and have been avoiding the area. Yes, people would rather go some place else rather than have conflict with someone and wind up in the hospital.

The NYPD not sharing information (even when the public has waited weeks) is a problem. And no, we aren’t going to call you because although the NCO for the area was polite in the e-mail, she did not offer information and when my husband asked her direct questions, she CC’ed his e-mail to a lot of other officers.

How to Get Rich Off NYC and Get Away With It

The simple answer is Run for Office in NYC.

The Campaign Finance System in NYC allows a candidate to receive matching funds 6 to 1 (up to $175) when they run for office.

The stipulation is that a pol would have collected small amounts from residents and can receive more from the city (this is supposed to prevent large corporations from participating in our elections).

In December, more rules came out and now there is a 8 to 1 matching program too.

What happens if the pol doesn’t use all of their money? Some may have hundreds of thousands of NYC dollars locked in their account.

Why isn’t there a provision that matching funds are returned to the city?

The rule is that the pol can use the money as they want. Now if they can find a restaurant or reception hall to say they had a party and that place writes a bill, the pol and that place can split the bill and walk away with those funds.

Since no one has asked for the return of matching funds, pols are able to abuse the program. Not only does their need to be the return of matching funds if they aren’t used, but there has to be a way to stop a pol from spending over a certain amount on “lunch, dinner, celebrations, etc.”

Here’s the real kicker: The Campaign Finance Board if composed of politicians friends…what else is new NYC?
It’s almost too easy: Run for office (choose an election where there are a lot of candidates), take out a loan for some money, distribute $175 to your friends to donate to your campaign. Then get the matching funds from NYC, lose the election, cash out at a friend’s restaurant with a high cost party.

Pols know that no one is watching because anyone who is supposed to be watching could benefit from this as well.

Marty Golden Doesn’t Know He Isn’t the Senator

It’s sad that it is March and Marty Golden doesn’t really that he isn’t the senator any more. He’s still tweeting under an account called Senator Marty Golden.
A lot of people thought it was just goofy operatives running the account, but the message is signed Marty so it’s strange that he didn’t move on. I don’t think they would let him be embarrassed like that.

Eric Adams Welcomed AirBnB and Now Wants to Talk About the Housing Crisis

Eric Adams welcomed Air BnB to Brooklyn and NYC – along with the head of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce (at the time)…….now Adams wants to talk about the housing crisis.
No one who had an ounce of knowledge would have welcomed Air BnB. Eric Adams background was that he was a police officer, so he thought it was a good move. The Brooklyn Chamber had an attorney leading it – he raved about. The Brooklyn Chamber even had a celebration with AirBnB as a sponsor. #SellOut

This is Cocoa Grinder’s third coffee shop in Bay Ridge (they took over The Coop’s spot) on 4th Avenue and 95th Street (across the street from St. Patrick’s Church).
Good Coffee. Nice people.
