Why Do I Watch The Republicans in Bay Ridge….
While I wasn’t watching the Republicans, Marty Golden introduced this stupid bill in the Senate and Nicole Malliotakis voted in favor of it. The bill gave billions in tax breaks to Manhattan developers. After that bill our property taxes soared.
BAY RIDGE REPUBLICANS WERE SILENT. Many didn’t know…..but some did.
Jerry Kassar was silent.
One person left a comment here and at another blog asking why I watch Republicans so I thought I would answer that one person here. I cut this post so click below if you care to read the whole thing – most people don’t….Why? Because it’s March and we are getting ready for St. Patty’s Day.
If it bothers you that I write about what they do wrong – tell them to do the right thing. I write about when pols do good, but it didn’t seem to come often unless it was for a photo op.
Why aren’t you questioning why party leaders keeps running people related to the real estate industry or who are accepting money from developers? We know why they are stepping up. I think it’s a matter of District Leaders not understanding that they need to get a viable candidate or step down from the position of district leader, so someone else can! There are plenty of Republicans who have connections – get out of the way so they can have the position.

Are you concerned about the traffic surrounding the new school?
On March 13th at 7:00 pm, go voice your concerns at PS 264 at 371 – 89th Street and convince them to bring their building out far enough so buses can go into the back of the lot. This will allow them to load children safely and go out the other side.
Stick up for your neighbors who didn’t buy a house near a school, but now are being forced to live near one. {And by the way they are paying too much property tax too.}

Two men were shot in Bath Beach on Bay 34th Street. Four men ran from the scene and police are looking for the suspects.
Ambulances covered the streetand residents saw helicopters overhead.

March 6, 2019Seven Star Bakery Closed: Greek Bakery on 86th Street
Seven Star Greek Bakery closed. It was at 280 – 86th Street next to Casa Calamari (off 3rd Avenue).
Last month, I asked her if she was closing. She looked away and said that she didn’t know. I knew when I left it would be the last time we had her sweets. Happy Retirement. We’re going to miss you.
Later, people said the landlord raised the rent (their expenses have gone up with the crazy property taxes here)
The woman who worked for her had retired and the bakery was a lot of work, but she enjoyed baking for this community for many years. Although I am not Greek, those I love are and when I would ask them what to bring to their home, they would always say spinach pies and sweets from 7 Star.
Where can I get Greek spinach pies now?
The Greek Bakaliko on 5th Avenue and 77th Street has good frozen spinach pies by Titan.
Goustaro makes the best tasting spinach pie.
