Brooklynites Shocked by Bread-Sliced Bagels

A man shared how he had Panera bread slice his bagels as he was used to having in St. Louis.

Brooklynites were outraged that as done to a bagel which they are used to slicing and putting a spread on.  Remember it’s Panera, not a Brooklyn Bagel Store doing this.

Some even questioned if people REALLY did that to bagels in St. Louis……see tweet below for proof.

NYCRuns Cancelled Runs on Shore Road Bike Path Due to Deterioration

NYCRUNS has cancelled all future races along Shore Road due to road conditions and deterioration.

People enjoyed running on Shore Road for many years, but now the Parks Department is no longer maintaining the grounds and it is unsafe runners.

The Verrazano 10K that was to take place at he end of April is cancelled.

In February, NYCRuns was able to use the bike path for one of it’s races as the area is okay from the Pier to the Bridge, but the Winter must have brought more damage and made it unsafe.

Max Ross Spent the Weekend in Bay Ridge

On Sunday, Max Rose attended the morning events before the parade and marched in the St. Paddy’s Day Parade on 3rd Avenue. Residents love Rose and were calling out, “Max” to get his attention. Some got a smile and wave, while others Rose hugged as he walked the parade route.

The day before,  Max Rose held a townhall meeting at Fort Hamilton High School. This was a change for our community as the old Congressman didn’t want to meet with residents at al.  Republicans who attended Max Rose’s Townhall in Bay Ridge found him refreshing and liked him more than they thought they would. I was surprised to see how pleased they were with Rose. I think they enjoy his optimistic attitude, good nature and moderate views.

Other political groups felt that Rose could have done better. Specifically they thought the moderator interfered with the authenticity of the Townhall as the moderator didn’t ask the question the way that it was written. Some residents felt this allowed Rose to provide watered down answers.

Fight Back Bay Ridge does a good job sticking up for this community. They discussed the screened/revised questions that others talked about:

Fight Back Bay Ridge provided an example of a real question that was submitted, but then was revised:

Max Rose is against The Green New Deal that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has backed.

Rose has opposed Medicare for All since the start. This was not something new. He does support healthcare for all.

I thought this was interesting to note:

Cambra Homeless Prevention was at the Townhall with information

Bay Ridge St. Paddy’s Parade and Gerry Kassar

WEIRD

For most of Bay Ridge, the St. Patty’s Day Parade was about celebrating culture and community. For Gerry, head of the NYS Conservative Party, the parade was about politics and seeing if there was going to be a revival.  It’s not happening Gerry.

We didn’t attend the breakfast at St. Pats. At the parade, Marty accompanied Assemblywoman Malliotakis. We were in a busy area – no one cheered Malliotakis because she represents the other side of the neighborhood and people don’t know her at this side. And no one cheered for Marty. Marty came over and shook hands with people. People said hello to him as they would to a neighbor.

People cheered for Max Rose LOUDLY and called out to him to come over to them. We were on several blocks where this happened. I was surprised how well Rose was received here.

Our area cheered for the scouts, called over Max Rose and called out to Councilman Brannan.   Everyone cheers for the parade mascot, Seamus Butler and every bagpipe group got applause.

This parade was one of the most spirited and well attended ones I have been to in Bay Ridge.

Gorgeous Day for a Parade in Bay Ridge

Third Avenue was packed today. The weather was perfect and everyone was glad to have a parade on Third Avenue!

Cute photos from the parade: here, here, here, here and here

Pols having a good time at the parade: here, here and here (here’s Assemblyman Ortiz….so many people write to me and tell me that I need to write about him as he represents a small section of Bay Ridge).
