Bay Ridge Model Railroad Club Evicted

Update: Councilman Brannan reached out to this group a few weeks ago and they were happy to send the train setup Upstate NY. I’m not sure why they have a GoFundMe still (that was to stay here).

I don’t think I mentioned it here, but I absolutely love model trains (and trains in general…..just not the R train)

In February, the Bay Ridge Model Railroad Club was evicted from their place at  28 Marine Avenue in Bay Ridge.

Before I lived in Bay Ridge, I used to stop in and see the trains every Christmas. For the past couple of years, I haven’t seen any announcements about the trains running around Christmas time.

Now they have a Go Fund Me Page to fund a new place for the setup.

Various news outlets are covering this story. Greg Mockler’s photo is awesome!

Eric Adams Told Muslims and Others to Embrace THEIR HYPHEN…..But He Didn’t Play That Nonsense With Other Groups

On Saint Patrick’s Day, I don’t “Embrace My Hyphen.”  I am Irish – that’s it.  You are Irish too on St. Patrick’s Day! <wink>

The words “Embrace Your Hyphen” stood out on Eric Adam’s flyer for Arab-American Heritage Day. Why would someone hang on to the dash?  What a stupid thing to write!  On a heritage day, people aren’t celebrating being an American – they are celebrating their family’s roots.

Clearly Eric Adams knows this as certain nationalities has much nicer flyers and weren’t told to “Embrace the hyphen”  such as this flyer on Eric Adam’s website now:

Dominicans weren’t told that the had to embrace the hyphen either – just a Heritage Celebration. Dominicans also received a flag background.

Latinos received this flyer for their Heritage Celebration:

I tweeted Eric Adams about this…his response is snarky and he sends me several 2018 flyers even though the ones above are on his website. REALLY  ERIC? He thinks people are dumb and aren’t going to notice

Ironically the flyer for this year’s St. Patty’s Day heritage celebration was not the one distributed widely. LET’S BE CLEAR ON THIS….that St. Patty’s Day celebration flyer came out wayyyyyyyyyyyy after the one below. I shared the one below in February here so I know. Also if you check Google Images, you can see that flyer is not there. So alternate flyers for one event are interesting.

Eric Adams either is clueless that flyers are being given out like this or he doesn’t care because he is term-limited.

Driver Crashed into a Building

From Adam Balhetchet  in Bay Ridge, on  March 24, 2019 – A man was in critical condition after colliding into a building. This happened at 9:16 am Sunday, at 92nd St & Gelston Avenue.

According to NYPD, the 72-year-old male was traveling southbound on Gelston Ave, suffered a medical episode, and collided into 167 Gelston Ave. No structural damage was done to the building, nor did he hit other vehicles or pedestrians.
