Daniel Panteleo Fired
Five years after we watched Eric Garner die, Daniel Panteleo was fired from the NYPD. Commissioner James O’Neil’s speech was compassionate to both sides.
Hopefully, Dnaiel Panteleo can get on with his life. He spent the last few years fighting this, so he may just keep on fighting instead of moving on with his life.

August 19, 2019My Natural Pet Hung a Sign on 5th Avenue
Natural Pet hung their sign at 8318 – 5th Avenue. It’s a store that sells a range of organic and natural pet products. See their website: here
![]()
Currently, there are a lot of refrigerated and frozen organic pet foods on the market, so Natural Pet will be selling those. My neighbor travels out of the neighborhood to buy for his dog, so this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
It’s very close to the other new pet store, but Bay Ridge has always had two pet stores in close vicinity to each other. (the 86th Street pet store closed last year).
This storefront originally was Waldinger’s Pharmacy.
They are on Facebook here.
Congratulations to the new owners!

Bagel lovers, Bake Ridge Bagels by Terranova in Bay Ridge is being replaced by another bagel shop, Mr. Bagels Café! The store is across from Walgreens at 9417 – 3rd Avenue.
They were working in the store last week, but we couldn’t tell if it was the old owners clearing out the place or the new owners setting up.

Today we saw the new sign which said: “Mr. Bagels Café Coming Soon!”
Welcome to the neighborhood Mr. Bagels Cafe!

August 16, 2019Painted Pot is Really Closing This Time
Painted Pot at 8009 3rd Avenue is really closing on August 31, 2019. The store owner owns the building, so it’s not a situation with rent. See story here.
Last December, the owner of The Painted Pot was going to close the store on January 31st. But she reconsidered the move after a little boy expressed how sad he was over the news.
There are two other locations in Brooklyn – one in Park Slope 200 7th Ave and the other in Downtown Brooklyn at 229 Smith Street.

August 16, 2019Small Shop for Rent in Bay Ridge $2300
Small shop across the street from St. Patrick’s Church at 9514 4th Avenue is for rent. I thought someone who was thinking of starting a small business would want to know because the rent is $2300.
It’s a small space – 500 square feet. It was a store that sold cell phones.
This area gets a lot of traffic as people walk from the last stop on the R train to their homes through this area. Plus it gets the traffic from the Church. See here
Nearby are: 2 pizzerias, 3 diners, a deli, a pet store, a grocery store, a bakery, a smoke shop and a 99 cents store.
A co-working space might work here because it’s near the 95th Street Train station.
Shlomi Bagdadi is the broker Tri State Commercial Realty 482 Coney Island Ave, 2nd Floor in Brooklyn. 718-437-6100. Listing here From the picture, we see Jack Erez is also renting it 917-658-1100, but I originally saw it from the other realtor.
I don’t know either of them, so I can’t get you a deal. I just want to see something good go in there. Oh…and if you do get this place, put a giant pot outside with flowers in it. :)
