81 Year-Old-Woman Robbed in Dyker Heights
On Sunday, January 19th in front of 945 Bay Ridge Avenue, a rat of a man took an 81-year-old female’s purse.

If you are a woman in Brooklyn, you are probably going to fight someone who tries to take your bag. The jerk shoved the senior to the ground and she hit her head on a fence. She was treated at the scene and didn’t go to the hospital.

January 21, 2020Gounardes Backs Bid, Even Though He Won’t Do Anything About Property Taxes
![]()
How does Senator Gounardes back a plan to make merchants pay more money when they are already paying high rents because of the property tax in this area?
![]()
As far as I know, Senator Andrew Gounardes has not met with the merchants to hear their concerns. Many residents have voted with the NO BID group because we don’t want the merchants to pay another tax!
Many Merchants are interested in working together as a group, but the BID is being forced on them and it is driving the merchants apart.
Fifth Avenue and 86th Street both have BIDs and neither are vibrant. Gournardes would be able to see that if he walked on these streets.
Why did we elect Andrew Gournardes if he is just interested in everyone paying more….except for those in jail?
The 3rd Avenue Merchants never had events like the 3rd Avenue Festival extend down to 97th Street, but now they want to include the merchants all the way down the Avenue. Of course…..it’t more money for them. I noticed Kitty Kieran’s letting us know, he had to do it on his own without the strolls and festivals because they weren’t available to him.
Let your politicians Know how you feel !!! Some seem to be out of touch.
Listen to all 3rd ave tenants not just the Few !!!!!! .
I’ve worked Hard for 25 years that’s why I’m still here.

The BID tax does not go away “if they try it and don’t like it.” It’s a permanent fee that continues to go up each year. There is no backing out once it has started.

January 21, 2020Eric Adams Speech Showed He’s An Excluder
Borough Presidents Eric Adams made the cover for his speech. Info here
Adams blamed people from other states for gentrifying New York. It’s a political technique and it failed.
I’ve followed Eric Adams for years and I wouldn’t want to see him become mayor for so many reasons. (This, this, this, this and this)
Adams spent 1/22/20 telling news outlets it was a mistake….that passion was no mistake.

“Go back to Iowa” is what @BPEricAdams said Monday while railing against gentrification. Some viewed it as an attack on people not from NY.
He tells @InsideCityHall the phrasing was a gaffe, but the larger message is that New Yorkers are angry about displacement. #NY1Politics pic.twitter.com/icIHLeDcM8

January 19, 2020AR-15 Shot at Dyker Heights Home
“Sargant Harold Beard, 28, allegedly fired his assault rifle 29 times out the window of his 82nd Street house between 13th and 14th Avenues at 12:28 am on January 7th. Beard told a police officer he did it because his wife cheated on him, the criminal complaint claims.” (Source)
Someone took aim at their neighbors home and not one politician or the NYPD mentioned it. When people questioned, they were told it’s being investigated – that’s it. No local newspaper included it, even though reporter, Jamie DeJesus rewrites the police reports into an article in The Brooklyn Reporter.
Sargeant Beard has a AR-15 which the army did not issue weapon. The article says Beard is not authorized to own an assault rifle in New York. (Source)
Beard fired 29 rounds with the rifle.
Beard hit his own car and the window and steps of a neighboring home….nice neighbor. The neighbor said, “Thank God the bullets didn’t go to my baby’s room.”
The Army had Beard released.
The NYPD and local politicians did not issue any statements or speak out against about this. Why do we have a senator, assembly members or council representatives if they are silent when things happen?
Thankfully reporters like Rose Adams of the Brooklyn Paper believe people deserve the truth.

January 19, 2020Crime Committed…Cell Phone Dropped
This morning around 4:10 am, a 34-year-old man was stabbed at Panorama Steakhouse located at 2402 86th Street in Bensonhurst. See the story here
Adam Balhetchet of Loudlabs shared: “Police rushed an ambulance to the location and the victim was transported to a hospital. Police are looking for four male whites who fled in a black Porsche. An iPhone was seen on the ground as evidence, with “mom” attempting to call them. The staff or witnesses were around to speak to the police. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.”
This is going to be an easy one for the police.
