Andrew Gounardes Accepted Developer’s Money
![]()
Why did Andrew Gounardes accept money from a developer?
Journalist, Kings County Politics revealed that Senator Gounardes accepted $2,250 from a developer.
KCP noted that Andrew Gounardes failed to discuss the donation. (See here) If he accepted a donation, Gounardes should have been able to speak about it.
In 2016, a group called the ‘Guardians of the Guardian’ formed to protect the history and architecture of Angel Guardian home. This is long before Andrew Gounardes was in office. The people recognized the uniqueness of the building and fought for it for years. Each time I saw them in the paper, I stopped and read the article because it’s good to see Brooklynites care enough to stand up for the historical significance of a building in their community. We are lucky to have people like that here.
Andrew Gounardes was the head of the Bay Ridge Historical Society a few years ago. (Source) How did being in politics change Gounardes in two years that he wouldn’t support the Guardians of the Guardian group? From their picture in the paper, I can see that some of the people in the group are Conservatives. Is this Gounardes way to plays politics with people he opposes politically?
How does Gounardes justify accepting money from a developer? Andrew probably thought no one would notice.
Here’s what NYC knows: Either a politician is with the people or he’s in the developer’s pocket.
Thank you to

August 18, 2020NYPD Asian Task Force Was Formed
![]()
When an 89-year-old grandmother in Bensonhurst was lit on fire in July, politicians in the area barely said anything about it until China Mac and Brooklynite marched in Bensonhurst.
China Mac and the Asian community were upset that this wasn’t handled like a hate crime. When someone lights a woman on fire – it needs to handled! It took politicians, Mark Treyger, Andrew Gounardes and William Colton until last week to have a presser about it. If your grandmother is lit on fire, I hope politicians don’t wait weeks to get out the podium. (See here)
China Mac went to meet the woman too. Here she is:
China Mac continued to draw attention to the problem. Today, the NYPD created an Asian Task Force:
#NYPD announces new #Asian Hate Crime task force. #NYPD says from March to August, 21 Asians experienced hate crimes. Cops say they faced attacks because of #coronavirus and people blaming Asians. @NY1 pic.twitter.com/WkEQhJ0a0H

August 17, 2020Islamic Society Eyes Old Church for Masjed
The former site of St. John Episcopal Church at 9818 Fort Hamilton Parkway is being eyed by the Islamic Society for their new place of workship. The Church dates back to 1834 and was built by soldiers,
It’s a nice piece of property that hasn’t been used in years. Three years ago, the defunct church came into political play during our election when a sign that sat outside on a tree was removed and thought of as a victory. The reality is no one cared about the sign and no one cared about that movement because it wasn’t mentioned in years! At the time, the building was for sale and the realtor said there was an interested buyer, but they must have backed out.
I’m going to guess that this building will see new owners within three months.

August 17, 2020Bay Ridge Democrats…What Happened to Them?
![]()
Three years ago, The Bay Ridge Democrats were concerned about having the best people represent our community.
The Bay Ridge Democrats spoke about against politicians who stood up against developers and lobbyists:
![]()
That was the main reason many people supported Gounardes and Brannan. The Bay Ridge Democrats wanted an honest player and a lot of people could get behind that. Update: Kings County Politics uncovered that Senator Gounardes has accepted thousands from a developer. (See here)
We see the way Bay Ridge looks now and the Bay Ridge Democrats don’t seem to care that Andrew Gounardes and Justin Brannan are taking money from developers.
Justin Brannan ran for office here saying he would stand up to developers and lobbyists. (See here) Justin’s all over NYC’s lobbyist database. You can do a quick search here – just select 2018, 2019 and 2020. Then go down to targets – choose the green button and type in Justin Brannan, select his name in the list and then search.
Have you seen the money involved?
![]()
Justin Brannan doesn’t see anything wrong with him using our council seat to do this.
District Leader, Christopher McCreight used to speak out against lobbyists all the time! (See here) McCreight is Councilman Brannan’s chief-of-staff and doesn’t talk about lobbyist much, unless he is insulting Republicans, like Malliotakis.
Why is Chris McCreight in the NYC Lobbyist Database? How is this helping Bay Ridge?
![]()
Why does McCreight think it’s okay for Democrats to be involved with lobbyists?
What happened to the Bay Ridge Democrats?
We believe that the club had a surge of socialist members join their organization. The group supported Bernie Sanders over Biden (even though Democrats were overwhelmingly supporting Biden throughout the country).
The current members of the Bay Ridge Democrats either don’t realize or don’t care that Justin Brannan accepts money from developers or lobbyists. Political organizations like Radiofree Bay Ridge have not spoken out against Brannan receiving support from developers or lobbyists. I asked them about it a few weeks ago and their silence says a lot (considering they were never silent)
The Bay Ridge Democrats were firmly against Ethan Lustig when he ran against Mathylde Frontus. Lustig received money from State Senator Diane Savino. Diane Savino was with the IDC (a group of Democrats who voted with Republicans for years). Now Savino’s staffer is running for office and the Bay Ridge Democrats support that?
Why isn’t Senator Andrew Gounardes speaking out about this? Gounardes definately knows this is going on as Andrew served as Eric Adams attorney. Gounardes is listed in the lobbyist database fifteen times as an employee of Eric Adams over two years – 2015 to 2017. (You can search here) Adams has received a significant amount of money in the database. Adams faced scutiny from the papers over his fund receiving so much money. See here and here. Gounardes is certainly aware, but chooses to look away. This is the trouble with having political friends in office representing us.

August 16, 2020Arrests Made at Two Sunset Park Raves Last Night
![]()
NYC Sheriff shared that they went to break up two raves last night. A rave is a huge dance party someplace – (like a warehouse) organized by a clever person who wants to make money. They charge a cover charge and less for alcohol OR no cover and the same price clubs charge for drinks.
The first was at the place pictured above at 51st Street in Sunset Park.
Raves in Brooklyn have always been popular for underage drinking, but because of Covid-19, people aren’t allowed to gather the same way they used to, so this is allowing them to get together because the pandemic is putting a damper on their social life.

The second place was at 266 – 47th Street. 180 people were at the rave! Drugs are mentioned at this one – just alcohol was mentioned for the 51st Street location.

Covid-19 rates were up this week in Sunset Park. But many people believe it’s not going to happen to them.
