RIP Madeline Makhnovsky – Only Four Months Old
The newspaper reported that on December 12th, a four month old baby girl, Madeline Makhnovsky, died from a blow to the head. (Story)
Madeline lived on West 3rd Street near Quentin Road in Gravesend in Brooklyn.
Madeline was taken to Tisch Hospital in Manhattan. She fought for four days before passing on December 16th. (Source)
The city medical examiner determined her death was a homicide. Yet, no arrests have been made.
How awful!
RIP Baby Madeline.

After the 3rd Avenue Fire – Bay Ridge
January 1, 2021 – The windows are boarded up.
Youtuber, “The Best” shared this video of the building on 3rd Avenue and 92nd Street that had the bad on fire yesterday. (Story here)

The firefighters had to break the windows to get the fire under control.
The video below also shows the back of the apartment building.

Fire – 3rd Avenue & 92nd Street in Bay Ridge
There is a serious fire going on right now (9:15 pm) in a second floor apartment on 3rd Avenue between 91st and 92nd Streets.
Thank God for the courageous firemen!!

If you heard the sirens, it is because there were many fire trucks and EMS on 3rd Avenue. (Videos here)
Third Avenue smelled of the burning building.

The apartment is above the eye glass store. (See here)
If you can’t place this building, HSBC bank is to the left of it. Across the street is Street Sounds and Starbucks.
While we were passing, one person was being treated. Several people had injuries – two went to the hospital.
There were a lot of fire trucks and emergency vehicles.
Hopefully everyone is okay and the FDNY can get the fire under control.

RIP Chef Tommaso Verdillo
I was sorry to hear that Chef Tommaso Verdillo, owner of Tommaso’s Restaurant passed on.
Years ago, a friend of mine introduced me to Tommaso’s Restaurant (86th Street and 14th Avenue) because she thought Tom’s cooking was the most like her grandmother’s cooking.
A month later, I brought a friend to the restaurant and Chef Tom remembered me!
Two remarkable things about Tommaso’s Retaurant was Carnavale and the nights when there was opera singers or people showing off their opera skills – including Chef Tom!
Tommaso’s was where many of us celebrated, made good memories and had great food and wine!
RIP Chef Tommaso, I hope there is a great feast in Heaven!!

No work permits were displayed on this home on 42nd Street and 5th Avenue in Sunset Park.
The news reported that one person is hurt and one is dead because a wall fell. (Story here)

NYS is able to help people, but they haven’t met to vote on any bills.
They could call a special session – but they haven’t. Then Andrew tweeted that his office is closed for a week for Christmas break!
