Why Isn’t the 86th Street BID Doing More to Fill the Empty Stores?

86th Street has a lot of closed storefronts, especially between 5th and 6th Avenues.

There are also a few businesses that bring a steady stream of people like Sephora, Victoria Secret and Chipotle.

The head of the 86th Street BID spoke to the local paper about some companies being interested in 86th Street, but he wasn’t going to name any names.

This an example of how a BID isn’t really working out well for the businesses that are required to pay into the BID.

The 86th Street BIDs website is outdated and still lists stores that closed. See here

If someone was interested in starting a business on 86th Street, they certainly wouldn’t get help from the BID because there is no information about what storefronts are available.

It’s not like the 86th Street BID tries that hard either. I can’t remember them running any events to bring people to the area. They could hold International Day or Popup Store day and invite new businesses to try out their products in the area.

If the powers that be are listening – DSW Shoe Store would be a perfect fit for 86th Street.

The Brooklyn Army Terminal Had Extra Vaccines….Brannan Said The Info was Bogus

Gothamist came out with a story about what happened at the Brooklyn Army Terminal. (See here)

They had extra vaccines.

The staff let people know what was going on….then everyone knew and it was too many people at the Brooklyn Army Terminal. (Story)

Councilman Brannan was running all over Twitter and Facebook sending out this message:

And we all thought, “wow that’s terrible someone is spreading lies over this.”

But it wasn’t a lie.

Some well-intentioned New Yorkers were spreading the word so other Brooklynites could get vaccinated and the vaccines wouldn’t go to waste.

Instead of saying they have too many people at BAT, Brannan labeled it as bogus.

The next time you hear inside scoop about “extra vaccines,” run there if you or someone you love needs it and don’t mind standing in line.

Good people in Brooklyn always share info. Brannan still has his tweet up that it was bogus (See here)….maybe he just doesn’t know!

Senator Zellnor Myrie also said that the vaccines being available was false.

On Friday, Myrie told the public he has Covid-19. On January 11th he was in Albany playing with his mask. (See here) If the mask doesn’t fit right, it doesn’t work. Hopefully, he maintained social distancing while in Albany.

Woman Stabbed a Police Officer in Sunset Park Yesterday, Menchaca and Brannan Wrote About the Assault of a Delivery Worker in the East Village Instead

Press release politics is the name of the game for local politicians looking for NYC to notice them.

A police officer was stabbed in Sunset Park by Marielee Jiminez. (See here)

Not one politician spoke about the police officer being stabbed in Brooklyn.

A delivery man in the East Village was assaulted and the two politicians write a press release.

Why haven’t we heard Justin Brannan speak out about any assaults in Bay Ridge?
