J&J Vaccine in Bay Ridge at Farmacon

The Johnson and Johnson Coronavirus vaccine is being given at Farmacon Pharmacy at  8007 5th Avenue (80th Street). Call for an appointment: 718-238-1090.

I know some people were waiting for this one because they just want to do one shot, but it is reported that it is 72% effective (the other two vaccines have a higher rate).

Bob Cassara and Heidi Chan-Sarantopoulos Are Ready to Lead in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights (Updated)

WOOT WOOT!

Bob Cassara is running for Male District Leader and Heidi Chan-Sarantopoulos is running for female district leader of the Republican Party in District 46.

The election will take place in mid-June.

They are challenging the current district leaders of Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights, John Quaglione. Kerri McCarthy is not running for re-election, but Regina Potter has been said to filling that spot.

Bob Cassara is a good, good man. He tried working with leaders in this community, but Justin Brannan gave him the runaround about illegal conversions for year. Brannan played all of his usual tricks like writing letters that received no answers and putting photos in the paper to pretend like he was helping, but ultimately did nothing to stop illegal conversions in Dyker Heights. (See here)

Bob Cassarra formed the Brooklyn Housing Preservation Alliance. If you want to know more about Cassara, see here.

Heidi is a Bay Ridge resident. She is the daughter of Chinese immigrants. She is a Geek so she is going to work social media and get out the word. She is interested in quality schools, quality of life and helping small businesses. She is a mother and loves dogs.

John Quaglione needs to step to the side and let the Republican Party grow. He had his time and he didn’t bring anyone new to run for office. Our community needs both Republicans and Democrats because Democratic Leaders are only representing some people and not the whole community.

Cassara and Heidi are pumped and ready to make changes in our community. I love the diversity of this pair and I am excited for them! We don’t have any elected Asian leaders here – but we need them so that everyone is represented!

My husband loves their shop because he always found unique items. And the owners are awesome!

E&J is able to get a lot of collectible cards and people line up outside their store to be able to get the limited edition cards.

Congratulations Eric and Jessie on the new store!

Recreational Pot is Legalized During a Global Pandemic

In July 2019, weed was decimalized. (See here)

Today more time was spent on pot. We are in a global pandemic and some geniuses thought the most important thing to talk about legalizing recreational pot. Now you can buy enough pot for 250 joints. (See here)

When I see how our electeds voted, I’ll post it here. I think this is important to know because there is a serious drug problem in our area already.

Who in Brooklyn needs pot right now during the pandemic?

If you are someone who lives in this neighborhood, you must walk around with your eyes closed because the drug dealers drive up on my block, double-park and someone runs out and then leaves the car.

Brannan Wants Another Taskforce To Fool You

Justin Brannan thinks being our representative means fooling us with by forming “tasks forces.” We elected Brannan to do the research and make a decision.

Brannan thinks presenting the idea of a taskforce is leadership! (See article) It’s laziness and it is what has slowed down progress in NYC.

Leadership would have been fixing this government building and getting families in there! Instead this building sits empty and collects graffiti.

Community funds are given to groups which should be raising their own money at this point!

FIAO is a private club where people pay dues! While they may run some programs, I don’t think the local councilmen coordinated and FIAO received a lot more.

And you too, Arab American Association!

When NYC Council and the local councilmen underfunded the food pantry on New Utrecht Avenue, the manager of the place tweeted that it had to turn people away, I asked FIAO and the Arab American Association to help…..neither responded. The pastor at a local church brought a check to the pantry!

Both FIAO and the AAA serve a portion of this community, but not a majority. These organizations should receive some money – but not that much!

Brannan has not done a think to help the homeless, unless you consider counting homeless people once a year leadership! (See here)

Brannan’s Property Tax Commission idea di absolutely nothing but delay property tax reform. For three years we have heard Brannan claim “it’s coming.” It isn’t coming!

We have been duped by a professional politician.

Nothing needed to be investigated in property taxes. The property tax office has all the records and they are online. Everyone can see the uneven taxes.

The Property Tax Commission allowed Brannan to tell home owners something was going to happen soon…..but more than a year later, nothing happened.

Don’t be fooled by: “It’s delayed by Covid.” No one in NYC was laid off, so they could have easily gotten this done while they worked from home.

Brannan’s obsession with the media is obvious in today’s article. He hasn’t even presented the new task force, but he ran to the news to tell them that his bill will be submitted tomorrow. See:

The article states that real estate groups have voiced support for this. Who does Brannan work for? Who should he be working for.

Before you vote for this Spring, look around – Does Bay Ridge look better than it did 3 years ago? NO.

When Justin Brannan took office in 2018, he introduced a bill for drones because lobbyists wanted it. (See bill) During the Pandemic, Brannan fought for the lobbyist bill – not for Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights. (See here)

We have been here before, Bay Ridge. It’s time to elect regular people who want to help the community and not career politicians.

Why is the NYS Senate Working on Legalizing Pot During a Pandemic?

Senator Andrew Gounardes hasn’t spoken about this marijuana bill, but apparently the NYS Senate will be voting on legalizing pot. (See here)

Who is so desperate to need pot during the pandemic that they need to rush this bill through?

The NYS Senate hasn’t taken care of all of the people whose rent will be due on May 1st as the eviction moratorium expires then. This poor landlord lives in her car and on her friends sofa’s because she can’t evict her tenant.

The Senate hasn’t taken care of businesses in NYC, as we see many closing because they can’t hold on any longer.

And the NYS Senate hasn’t adjusted or frozen the property tax for our area. Mostly Andrew Gounardes tweets nonsense, like the former presidents. Tweets don’t get things done in Bay Ridge.

Almost three months ago, Gounardes appeared in the newspaper and claimed he wrote to the mayor about taxes. (See here) There was no response and of course Andrew didn’t follow up or take the next step because he is busy tweeting.

We’re on the third year of Andrew not following up on property taxes! By now Gounardes should have taken action.

Senator Gounardes has not presented any objections to legaling pot, even though he represents an area where people are driving erratically. Andrew was busy talking about the Halt bill, even thought there were plenty of politicians already covering this.
