June 9, 2021Brian Fox’s Interview Showed He is Serious About Changes

Brian Fox did an interview on the podcast, The Urban Conservative. (See it here)
This was the first time I heard Fox speak indepth about his campaign. Brian Fox has challenged Justin Brannan for the Bay Ridge NYC Council seat.
Fox focused on speaking against reforms that were made that made it harder for the NYC police to do their job.
As a Conservative, Fox stayed true to his beliefs of “Backing the Blue,” but he also showed an understanding for people with mental health issues and for rehabilitating people. Fox echoed the sentiments of many New Yorkers who have seen a change in NYC since there was a change in the laws.
Fox’s respect towards the NYPD was guinine and even included officers in training. He spoke about how he would stop the further handcuffing of the police and how he would fund the NYPD while in NYC Council.

Brannannites may want to skip this paragraph: Brian Fox called out his opponent, Councilman Brannan for failing to support for the NYPD, for failing to acknowledge recent crime incidents in Bay Ridge (since Memorial Day – see video below) and the court case involving Gentile. (Info) In March, Councilman Brannan voted to remove immunity from police officers and never spoke about his vote. (See here)
Throughout the interview, Fox listened to Raheen, the host of the podcast. Fox was introspective, down-to-earth and he wasn’t just throwing out rehearsed answers.
Fox gave Brooklyn Brew, a shoutout for making a great latte. (Brooklyn Brew at 310 79th Street makes the best cup of coffee – their regular coffee is great!) I think it’s important for leaders to point out great things that are available in Bay Ridge!
Finally, Fox spoke about Bill Pepitone who is running for Mayor on the Conservative line. Pepitone is a very likeable man, but I haven’t seen a lot of press coverage of his campaign. Pepitone doesn’t face a primary election this June, but will appear on the ballot in November. (Pepitone’s info)

June 9, 2021Pro-Palestinian Parade Today – Staten Island to Bay Ridge

A motorcade to support Palestine came from Staten Island to Bay Ridge this evening. (See video)
Why can’t anyone announce events like this? The politicians and NYPD have social media, so I don’t know why it’s a secret. (Example: Heads up Bay Ridge: Protest coming from Staten Island to Bay Ridge – stay clear of 5th Avenue).
Cars traveled on 5th Avenue with people honking their horns, waving Palestinian flags and homemade Free Palestine signs. The 68th Precinct was on 5th Avenue between 72nd to 75th Streets.

June 9, 2021Terri Liftin Is The Best Candidate for NYC Comptroller

Terri Liftin’s website
Terri Liftin isn’t a politician, but she’s running for NYC Comptroller and she is the most qualified candidate.

Terri has a strong financial background! She has a Master’s Degree in Economics and a JD as well (law degree).

I don’t know her personally, but Liftin’s website let’s us know she’s tired of the nonsense too. (See here)

Liftin doesn’t want to use this position to run for mayor. Terri said in an interview that she wants to investigate where “the miscellaneous” money is going. The category “miscellaneous” is being used for a lot for spending in NY.
Liftin isn’t connected with any politician, so the Comptroller’s position will belong to the people in NYC. Terri Liftin gave an interview about her ideas for Comptroller here.
Terri Liftin is promising integrity, transparency and accountability. This is what we need!

June 9, 2021Mathylde Frontus’ Bill for the Military Passed

Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus’s bill A-7514 passed. This bill will give unemployment benefits to military spouses. It passed in both the Assembly and Senate. You can see the bill here.
Senator Andrew Gounardes was not a co-sponsor of Frontus’ bill and did not help carry the bill. It’s disappointing to see Gounardes is not supporting legislation from Frontus, as her bills have been very specific.
It’s also disappointing to see Gounardes and his staff make these graphics, as they don’t credit the politicians who created the bill. In the graphic, are three bills made by these three senators:
Senator Rachel May’s bill: https://nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2021/s554…
Senator Rivera’s bill: https://nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2021/s2535…
Senator Stavisky’s bill: https://nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2021/S4216…

June 9, 2021Bay Ridge Fire – 310 94th Street

Another fire in Bay Ridge today a little after 3:30 pm.
The firetrucks came down 3rd Avenue to 94th Street. The corner apartment building, 310 – 94th Street had a fire in the top apartment. (See video)

We could hear the firemen knocking out the glass from the windows on back rooms of the top floor. The sound of glass being shattered went on for several minutes.

Thank God for the fantastic firemen in Bay Ridge!

Some emergency vehicles response drove up 95th Street.

Five minutes later, more firetrucks! Then FDNY on the roof. And then more emergency response vehicles.
Thankfully, everyone was able to get out and no one was hurt.

June 9, 2021NYC Gun Buy Back – June 12th

These gun buyback programs are never around here. And no one from Bay Ridge is going to go all the way out to Springfield Gardens to return a gun.
But why doesn’t the precinct around here have buyback day? Andrew Gounardes claims that this is an important issue, but he’s been in office for three years and there has never been a buy back here.
I don’t have a gun to return, but what if someone in this community was looking for a good reason to unload a gun that they inherited or just had for some other reason.
