Brooklyn’s National Night Out Against Crime – August 3rd

On Tuesday, August 3rd is the National Night Out Against Crime.

All precincts throughout Brooklyn and NYC have free National Nights out events find your local one here. This is a way for the police and the community to come together.

Everyone is welcome to any of these free events. The NYPD has activities, snacks and raffles. Some events have rides.

1) Bay Ridge is having a small event this year. The Community Council wrote: “Although the 68th Precinct is usually known for having one of the bigger night out celebrations, this year it will be a much smaller event, but we still would love your support.  We are hoping that next year we can have a larger event, as we did pre-pandemic!”

This year they are having the event outside the precinct at 333 – 65th Street from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. This is between 3rd and 4th Avenue. (Shore Road Park is having a band that night).

2) The 60th Precinct – 2951 West 8th Street from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Come out and meet your police officers and your neighbors. Free food and children’s activities.

3) Sunset Park National Night Out begins at 4:00 pm.

4) National Afternoon Out in Coney Island 3:00 pm -6:00 pm

.

5) Staten Island has a big National Night Out from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.

Coney Island Hospital was Renamed South Brooklyn Health

Coney Island Hospital has been renamed South Brooklyn Health. (Source)

Another 11-story building will be added to the hospital and named after Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The $900 million in funding from FEMA. (See here)

I thought it was strange they would change their name now because Coney Island Hospital was recently named in the top ten hospitals in the US that performed the best in overall community health investments. (Source)

I did a search for Covid deaths and in August 2020, 41% of COVID-19 patients at Coney Island Hospital didn’t make it. (The writer remarked: You might as well be in a Third World country.) (Source)
