A six year old boy was on a camp trip yesterday in Canarsi. Yosef got separated from the group and was lost. (Story here)

August 12, 2021Mass for Michael McGivney on Friday, August 13th in Brooklyn
For the first time since he was declared blessed by Pope Francis in October 2020, people will celebrate Father Michael McGivney’s feast day on August 13th. McGivney was the founder of the Knights of Columbus.
On August 13th at 7:00 pm, the Knights of Columbus at St. Finbar’s Church will have a mass of Thanksgiving for Fr. McGivney. People are asked to bring canned foods to help those wo are in need.
St. Finbar’s Church is at 138 Bay 20th Street.

August 12, 2021Jumaane Williams Wants to Give Money To People at Risk of Committing Gun Violence
Jumaane Williams is the Public Advocate. If you contact him about your property taxes, he won’t respond until you write to him publicly on social media. Then his office will send you a form letter and he won’t do anything else or follow up – even YEARS later.
Williams wants NYC to pay people who are at risk of committing gun violence around $1,000 a month to be in a program. The people in this program can get more money for meeting goals like obtaining a driver’s license or GED. (See here)
If you are a decent person and do they right thing, aren’t eligible for this program.
Jumaane Williams lives on the Fort Hamilton Army Base – he wants to defund the police because he is protected by the military on the base. He doesn’t tell anyone that part – the press had to reveal it. (See here)

August 10, 2021Sean Casey’s Yard Sale on Sunday 8/15
There will be a yard sale on Sunday, August 15th from 12:00 – 5:00 pm outside of Sean Casey Animal Rescue at 15 East 3rd Street in Brooklyn.
Most of the items are pet supplies and animal related.
All proceeds will go to the animal rescue.
If you have anything you would like to donate, you can drop it off from 11 am – 7pm any day.

August 10, 2021Fisherman Rescued by Firemen on Shore Rd
A little after 5:00 pm today, a man was fishing on Shore Road by the rocks that jet out from the bike path. (More info)
The man found that he was stuck on the other side of sea wall (See here) and firemen were called to bring him back to the walkway.

Blue Bloods fans, you may get a glimpse of Tom Sellack or Donnie Wahlberg in Bay Ridge on Thursday, August 12th.
Blue Bloods is filming in various locations including:
Of course 82nd Street between Harbor View Terrance and Shore Road because that’s where New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan lives (played by Tom Sellack)
4th Avenue between 68th and 69th Street
72nd Between 4th and 5th Avenue – Blue Bloods filmed at The Yemen Cafe (Andrew Yang also visited the Yemen Cafe when he was running for office – see here). The address is: 7130 – 5th Avenue
The new season starts October 1st.
