Don’t Waste Time on the Park’s Department Meeting – They Don’t Use the Input

In 2020, the Parks Department had an online meeting for Owls Head Park. I went and wrote about the meeting.

It’s five years later and although the park isn’t completed, you can see what the children and their parents asked for was not included in the new design. The children who attended that planning meeting are too old to play in that playground now.

All the parks in our area all look the same, but are different colors. Parks in other neighborhoods received real designs and are so charming. See beautiful designed parks:

Coney Island is not having fireworks for New Year’s Eve AGAIN this year.

There are fireworks at Liberty Island which can be seen from parts of Brooklyn. (See here)

Coney Island has not had a fireworks NYE celebration for several years.

Why didn’t Councilman Brannan set up the New Year’s Celebration for Brooklyn?

Brannan had a hand-painted sign made for his new office on Mermaid Avenue that took ONE YEAR to set up. (See here)

Grand Army Plaza has fireworks and music 10:00 pm – 12:00 am on December 31st. It’s free.

Man Went Down Manhole on 72nd St Between 13th & 14th Ave. – 68th Pct Response VERY Slow

On Friday, December 6th, a man went down a manhole on 72nd Street between 13th and 14th Avenues at 8:41 pm. See video:

https://www.facebook.com/reel/2021328822045450

The man paced around near the manhole.

Then he opened the cover to the manhole.

The man entered the manhole and pulled the cover back on.

Residents called 911 many times. They also called the 68th Precinct directly twice and they tweeted the NYPD to try and get help.

The first call was at 8:42 pm on Friday evening (as soon as the man entered the manhole). Yet, the 68th Precinct police did not respond until 12:45 am on Saturday.

The 68th Precinct officers did not open or even investigate around the manhole. Why didn’t they call another department or someone to investigate for the community?

At 2:07 am, the man came out of the manhole – 5 hours after he had gone done the manhole. ** Amazing Brooklynites ** kept their eyes on this manhole for hours because they knew something was wrong and the police did not investigate or provide any answers.

Dyker Heights is a neighborhood with families and people are concerned about safety. People look out for each other. Thank you to the Dyker Heights residents who kept an eye on the manhole, contacted the police many times and then shared what was going on their street.

This community also loves and respects the NYPD, but they need more help and accountability from the NYPD.

This is not the first time men have gone down a manhole. What is going on? Who are they trying to rob?

Will this come back and jump in the manhole when no one is watching? This community needs an investigation.

Astoria, Queens Wins in Court Against Bike Lane

A Queens judge, Cheree Buggs ruled that NYC has to remove the half-installed bike lane on 31st Street.

The judge found that the NYC Department of Transportation fell short on safety measures and failed to properly address concerns about how the redesign would impact traffic, access for emergency vehicles, parking, loading/unloading for local businesses, and pedestrian safety.
