Rally to Save the Veteran’s Hospital in Brooklyn

Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis is fighting the Biden Administration because they want to close the Veteran’s Hospital in Bay Ridge. (More info here and here)

While many vets in Bay Ridge depend on this hospital, the newspaper says they are proposing that vets in Brooklyn go to Bronx VA or Northport VA n Long Island to get services – that’s terrible and not acceptable to ask seniors to travel that far. Staten Island vets would have to go to NJ.

On Sunday, March 13th there is a rally at 2:00 pm to help save the VA Hospital. The rally will take place on 7th Avenue and Poly Place.

Malliotakis has always been a strong supporter of Veterans, so I am not surprised she would be fighting this.

I am surprised that neither of Malliotakis’ Democratic challengers have jumped on this issue because both were in the military! I would have thought Max Rose and Brittany Ramos DeBarros would be the first people speaking up for vets, but neither mentioned the Veteran’s Hospital or this change by the Biden administration on their Facebook or Twitter accounts. They must not be aware of the this situation.

This neon graffiti at the Fort Hamilton Station on 62nd Street has been there for a long time.

Today, the 68t Precinct police were at the station trying to recruit people to become NYPD officers. (See here)

Peter Abbate’s office is just four blocks away from this station at 6605 Fort Hamilton Pkwy. Iwen Chen is his chief-of-staff and should have taken care of this by now.

Why hasn’t Iwen Chen and Peter Abbate called to have this removed from the station? They don’t care!
