May 11, 2022Reply to Hunter

Hey Hunter College! We are glad you got yours.
For those who don’t understand this message, our politician’s friend wrote to me about this! (Specific information which wasn’t able to be confirmed was in the message.)
The answer to your question….a 25% tax break would have been sufficient, except for this developer. No money should have been made available for this man. Your friend told you who the the developer for the project is, right?
You are a parent – you should know better than to leave a message like that. Making excuses for corruption when your friends do it, is wrong. By now you should have realized that the men pushing bills for developers and lobbyists don’t belong in government.
In the future, you should avoid this blog. My neighbors and I have the right to fair property taxes and to representatives who want to represent everyone – not just political pacs, lobbyists, developers and a few of their friends, like you. (See here, here, here, here, here and here)
Finally, don’t waste your time speaking out against your neighbors who are asking for fair property taxes. It’s sad to see our politicians, who ran on platforms saying they would help home owners act like they aren’t from this district.

May 11, 2022What Happened to The Family Store?

The Family Store at 6905 – 3rd Avenue has been in Bay Ridge for 36 years. This week The Family Store closed.
Sammy told us he was taking vacation in May to see his Mother, who wasn’t well.
We are sad to see this business leave our community – Sammy and his family cooked soooo well. They will be missed.

May 11, 2022Why is Bridgeview Diner in Bay Ridge Closed? Update: It reopened on 6/22

Update: The Bridgeview Dinner opened again on 6/22.
The Bridgeview Dinner closed early today and Bay Ridge was buzzing because the parking lot was also roped off.

A sign in the window said: Closed for Emergency Repairs. An employee of the Bridgeview Diner explained that they found a gas lead and they were fixing it. At the time, they didn’t know how long it would take to fix the gas leak.
* Strangely, we haven’t see any repair trucks there.

May 11, 2022La Bella Shared Gun Point Robbery in Bay Ridge

Vito LaBella, candidate for NYS Senate to represent Bay Ridge shared on Facebook that Captain Tolson spoke about two men robbing the Smoke shop on 5th Avenue and 85th Street yesterday. (See here)
Why didn’t the people who represent our community tell us about this? Councilman Brannan, Senator Gounardes, Assemblymember Mathylde Fontus and Mike Tannousis all failed to share that information. People need to know what’s going on in their community before rumors are started.

Other sex crimes are up in Bay Ridge. Crime stats can be seen here – pull down Brooklyn South and then 68th Precinct at the top.
In the last month there have been 7 other sex crimes committed in the 68th Precinct, as compared to 1 last year during this time. Compstat shows this crime is up 600%. Yet not one politician or officer has mentioned it.
From January until now there have been 17 other sex crimes, as compared to 6 from January to May last year at this time.

May 10, 2022Chris McCreight’s $100 Minimum for His Party

Christopher McCreight is running for District Leader in the 46th District. McCreight sent an e-mail stating that there was a $100 minimum to attend his party.
I didn’t know politicians limited residents on a budget. It’s also strange that McCreight is having another fundraiser – he had one in the Summer and appears to have a lot of money. He’s running for District Leader – how much money does he need?

I hope people don’t vote for McCreight. He easily spoke out against Marty Golden because he is a Republican (see photo below), but he was silent when Councilman Brannan repeatedly broke the law. Brannan is McCreights boss, so he doesn’t speak out against him or any other Democrat either. (See here)

When Senator Andrew Gounardes and Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus voted for gerrymandered maps in Brooklyn, Chris McCreight was silent because McCreight wanted an assembly district so he could run for office.
This page about gerrymandering has since been deleted from Chris McCreight’s website: (See here)
