Silver Sunset Stroll in Bay Ridge on July 21st – Volunteers Needed
This is a fantastic event in Bay Ridge on Thursday, July 21st at 6:00 pm by El-Rose Foundation and Pope John Paul Senior Home.
Bay Ridge, if you like to participate, they need volunteers who can join up with a senior in a wheelchair and stroll with them five blocks to the pier. This allows the seniors time to enjoy a sunset by the water.
Music and food supplied by local restaurants: Salty Dog, Cebu Bistro, Leo’s Pizza and Louie’s Gyros.
Call 646-836-1303 if you would like to volunteer.

Why Did Andrew Gounardes Tell People to Vote For Brad Lander for NYC Comptroller?
Today’s Daily News Story (See here) is very concerning.
Brad Lander has been a politician for a long time. He knows this isn’t allowed and Brad would be the first one to point out another politician doing this. It is a betrayal of the public’s trust.
Andrew Gounardes endorsed his friend, Brad Lander for NYC Comptroller, but he was silent about this.
If it was a Republican, Gounardes would have been going off about this all afternoon.
In March, we saw Justin Brannan make a strange bill for Brad Lander – thankfully it has not passed. (See here) Again, Andrew Gounardes is too afraid to speak out against people doing the wrong thing. (Info here)

The Salvation Army on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge Closed

Bay Ridge Cinemas filmed the video above and the store looks mostly empty – no clothes.
The Bay Ridge Salvation Army store closed for good on July 6th. Their rent was raised.

Catholic Church Offers 50K for Park Slope Tablernacle’s Return
At the end of May, robbers broke into St. Augustine’s Catholic Church on 6th Avenue in Park Slope and stole the tabernacle, which is worth two million dollars.
Now the Catholic Church is offering 50K for it’s return. (Story here) That gold box was probably melted down in May!

Free Concert Moved to Wednesday Night – Bay Ridge: Tramps Like Us – Shore Road Park
Wednesday, July 6th at 7:00 pm, the band Tramps Like Us (the Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band) will perform at Shore Road Park – 79th Street and Shore Road. The date was changed due to the weather.
Update: This concert has been moved to Wednesday night as rain is expected.

Highland Park Forever Changed By Shooting
Chicago’s politicians offer thoughts and prayers after the shooting today in Highland Park.
Before the killer was captured, the news started to share the backgrounds of the people who were killed. (See above) This couple was shot and killed and their baby was taken to safety by another couple that didn’t know them. (Story here) How awful.
Soon everyone will forget that the incident happened, except those in Highland Park, who are hoping the government will do something to stop future shootings.
