Collision on 6th Avenue & Senator Street

Two cars had a collision around 3:30 pm this afternoon on 6th Avenue and Senator Street. While both cars look damaged, it doesn’t appear as if anyone is hurt.

Paul Sorvino, Actor from Bensonhurst Died

Paul Sorvino, an 83-year-old actor from Bensonhurst, Brooklyn died. He was 83-years-old and did of natural causes in a hospital in Florida. (News story)

Sorvino attended Lafayette High School in Brooklyn.

He stared in Goodfellas as Paulie Cicero and he played a NYPD sergeant on Law and Order.

RIP.

Leaning Tree on 89th Street & 3rd Ave. Removed

The leaning tree on 89th Street off 3rd Avenue has been removed. Angela shared the photo above today.

It didn’t look so bad from 3rd Avenue.

From 89th Street, you can see the tree hadn’t been trimmed in a long time.

Hopefully, they will replace it with another tree – a smaller type.

NYC hasn’t been replacing trees in many areas around our neighborhood.

Pizza Wagon Visit From Lil’ Mo Mozzarella

Youtuber, Lil Mo Mozzarella stopped by Pizza Wagon on 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge. The comedian enjoyed an old skool slice and joked around with some Brooklynites.

Then he took a Sicilian pizza to go.

Flipped Car in Bensonhurst – Owner Left

Residents on 70th Street and 20th Avenue in Bensonhurst were surprised to see the overturned on their street around 7:30 pm tonight. (See Videos)

Thankfully, the driver was not trapped inside, but the driver also did not stay at the scene.

Motorcyclist Unconscious After Accident-86th St.

Around 6:00 pm, a man riding on a motorcycle (seen above on the right) was hit by a vehicle on 86th Street and 4th Avenue.

The Citizen app states that man was unconscious and taken to the hospital. (See here)

RIP Mike Long – Former Head of the NY Conservative Party

Mike Long, the former head of the New York State Conservative Party died. (News here and here) He was 82 years old.

The wake is at Clavin Funeral Home:

Funeral Mass: Friday (7/29)  9:30 AM @ Our Lady of Angels R.C. Church

Jerry Kassar, the current head of the Conservative Party shared this:

Long owned Long’s Liquors on 5th Avenue and 79th Street in Bay Ridge years ago with his brother.

Even if your views didn’t match Mike Long’s, you knew he loved his family, his community and his country.

RIP Mike Long. Prayers for his family and friends. He has 9 children and 24 grandchildren.

Nothing Good Happens After 2:00 am Anywhere

Around 2:30 am this morning, the 68th Precinct Police had to go to 87th Street and 3rd Avenue.

Some people don’t know when to go home (or to a diner) after the bars close. There was some commotion outside of RCC Gift and Thrifts Shop.(See here)

Some things never change in Bay Ridge. : )
