Muggings on Mopeds in NYC
Welcome to NYC, where you get robbed in broad daylight. pic.twitter.com/jZCPFLRO56
— Joel Fischer ?? (@realJoelFischer) August 28, 2022
Armed robberies are easier to do when the thieves are able to escape quickly. It’s so sad that things have come down to this. (See story)
These vehicles need license plates so that riders are accountable to everyone.
The police can’t chase these criminals because that will cause more dangerous situations on the road.
A good guy comes and pulls the thief off the bike – he even chased after him.

August 28, 2022Anapoli Ice Cream Parlor in Bay Ridge Closed

Anapoli Ice Cream Parlor on 3rd Avenue and 69th Street closed for good. They told me today was the their last day in business.
Although the eatery had been opened by multiple families, it’s been Anapoli’s ice cream parlor/restaurant for 125 years. (See article from 10 years ago). This must be Bay Ridge’s oldest restaurant.
These owners had the restaurant for 26 years:

It’s sad to see an iconic place in Bay Ridge, that survived the pandemic closing now.
This has been a place that many Bay Ridge families enjoyed for breakfast, lunch or ice cream for many years!
Good luck to the owners.

August 27, 2022Nicole Malliotakis Fostered and Found a Home For Dog That Someone Disposed Of

Last month, the Fire Department pulled a dog out of the Harlem River. Nicole Malliotakis met “Aqua” through the ASPCA and decided to foster him.

Malliotakis took the dog home and within a week, Malliotakis found the dog a forever home!

Malliotakis said that she still has visiting rights because the dog is with someone she knows.

This is a great story and the type of thing that newspapers should be sharing with us!
Large dogs do not get adopted as easily as small and medium dogs at shelters in NYC. Many are killed when they aren’t adopted in 30 days. Malliotakis encouraged others to try fostering a dog. (Info here)
There is a bill in the NYS Senate that Andrew Gounardes will not co-sponsor that could help shelter dogs. (See here) The bill is also in the NYS Assembly and neither Frontus or Tannousis has sponsored the bill to help shelter dogs. (See here)

August 27, 2022Woman Hurt This Morning in Bay Ridge

Around 5:00 am, a woman was hurt near Shore Road Park in the 90’s.
She had injuries that were not life-threatening and was sent in an ambulance to the hospital.
This afternoon, District Leader, John Quaglione called the police and shared that an incident happened without weapons and the woman was brought to the hospital.

Democratic District Leader, Chris McCreight has never talked about crime. talk about crimes.
Today, McCreight told Quaglione on Twitter that he hates his neighborhood because he shared the report from Citizen (how strange!) McCreight said Quaglione made a mistake, but Quaglione confirmed with the 68the Precinct that a woman was hurt (minus the bat in the original Citizen report).

The two men had a previous disagreement here.
