August 31, 2022Brannan Throws Breadcrumbs to Home Owners

While lobbyists salivate over the deals they have received with Justin, Councilman Brannan throws breadcrumbs at Bay Ridge.

Bay Ridge home owners pay thousands more in property taxes than other NYC home owners. Sending a $150 check (or even less) to these residents is patronizing. A politician expecting a community to cheer over breadcrumbs is ridiculous.

Senator Gounardes didn’t do anything about property taxes this year – he was too busy campaigning. Gounardes isn’t bothered by the inequities in property tax because his friends benefit from low taxes. NYS’s property tax rebate was much higher outside of NYC, but Gounardes wasn’t able to stand up for our district. (See here) If Brannan and Gounardes weren’t friends, Brannan would have called out Gounardes.
Lately, Brannan or his staffer is wasting time making these tacky graphics:

When you deliver breadcrumbs, rather than the Italian bread, you shouldn’t make graphics or write silly opt-ed articles – like this.
Politics has swallowed Brannan – he doesn’t even recognize what’s wrong with that.

Next November, vote for more goal-oriented people to represent our community.
Remember Brannan streched his arm across Queens provided a developer with a property tax exemption for 40 years right before 421a was pulled. (See here) Why didn’t Pierina Sanchez or Selvena N. Brooks-Powers, the Queens NYC Council representatives representing those properties apply for the property tax break?

August 30, 2022The Old Timer’s Stickball Game on 80th Street in Bay Ridge Will Not Happen This Year

The Old Timer’s Stickball game is a tradition that has happened on 80th Street for over 50 years.
A group of kids who played together for years grew up and would return each year to Bay Ridge to play a game of stickball. As time went, some brought their own kids to play. It was a great game to stop by and watch!
The Old Timer’s Stickball Game would be played on the same day as the Ragamuffin Parade because 3rd Avenue is closed and they wouldn’t have to interrupt the game to let cars go by.
In 2019, The Old Timers held their 51st game n 80th Street. In 2020 and 2021, the Ragamuffin Parade was cancelled due to Covid-19.
Covid interrupted the tradition and sadly, there won’t be an Oldtimers game this year. One old timer said that everyone got too old.
.
If someone organized a stickball game on 80th Street, there probably would be some Old Timers that would be up to play.
