September 22, 2022Extreme Flooding in Homes on 10th Avenue in Dyker Heights After It Rains

Brooklynites spoke out about the flooding due to the sewers on 10th Avenue. In 1999, sewer from 67th to 77th Street on 10th Avenue were update – in the 80’s they were not.
Dyker Heights residents are experiencing extreme flooding in their basements after it rains. How come newspapers aren’t reporting this?
Fran Vella-Marrone said that this needs to be on the capital project list. She is writing to the DEP. A man yelled out that this complaint has fallen on deaf ears. Justin Brannan isn’t deaf to lobbyists.
Eight residents from Dyker Heights came up and spoke about the sewers and the flooding.
First up was Brad. Brad said that the CDC is watching all the diseases in the water – polio, monkeypox, etc. and that water is in his home. The residents on Dyker Heights text each other and hope that it doesn’t rain! Brad owns a sump pump and a backup pump (that’s just sad that he needs to own two).
Brad called Brannan and Gounardes’ offices, but didn’t receive help. Why aren’t Justin and Andrew getting Dyker Heights residents help?
Brannan was the chair of NYC’s Council’s Committee on Resiliency and Waterfronts – I never heard him speak about the flooding in Dyker Heights! Why didn’t Brannan or Gounardes use NY tax money to remedy this problem?
It was heart-breaking to hear what Brad and his wife are going through – this should not be something they need to worry about.
Ramona R. has been living in Dyker Heights for 13 years. Her tenant crawled out of his window to clean a drain because there was three feet of water outside of the house. Ramona said she can’t sleep when there is a rainstorm.
Jim N. said this has been going on for years. He and his neighbors are not receiving the basics to stop the flooding.
Maria M. from 82nd Street said that she was in her basement and it flooded. The water was up to her waist and she lost consciousness. She had to be taken to the hospital. False promises by politicians are the problem.
Steve spoke about cutting the sheetrock out of his walls five times due to flooding. He’s called 311 many times and nothing is being done.
Vincent R is an 81-year-old Dyker resident. He has to shovel out his basement when it rains. He is tired of Democrats and Republics fighting. He said he called Brannan’s office many times asking for help!
Dyker Heights residents cheered each time someone from the neighborhood spoke at the mic. We cheered for them too and hope they receive help they need this week.
Pro-tip: Invite Andrew Gounardes to your flooded basement, so he can take a photo. I haven’t seen Gounardes contribute any our tax money to helping Dyker Heights, have you?
Andrew Gounardes’ Mother, a member of CB 10, sat in the first row of the meeting and listened to people say how they couldn’t get help for YEARS.

September 22, 2022Gounardes & Frontus Voted to Legalized Marijuana. Now Some Smoke Shops in Bay Ridge Have Started Selling Items

Jaynemarie Capetanakis, the head of Community Board 10 said that Albany legalized marijuana for New York State. Jaynemarie didn’t say that Andrew Gounardes and Frontus voted for this.
Andrew Gounardes and Mathylde Frontus should be visiting the Bay Ridge businesses, which people have reported for selling drugs before it is legal in NYC. Gounardes and Frontus can engage these new business owners in a conversation.
Strangely, both politicians are up for re-election, but didn’t show up for the CB-10 meeting.
When politicians go to Albany, they vote with their friends. But a lot of Albany’s bills don’t work for Brooklyn. People here take things to the extreme.

September 22, 2022Suicide Rates Published By the CDC – Reach Out to Someone Today

I heard the CDC’s suicide rate statistics. I immediately went to look it up because I didn’t believe that was true. (See statistics)
The CDC shared that in 2020, an estimated 12.2 million American adults seriously thought about suicide, 3.2 million planned a suicide attempt, and 1.2 million attempted suicide.
Reach out to someone who you haven’s spoken to in awhile.

September 22, 2022BK Democrats Meeting Fail – September 21, 2022

The BK Democrats were supposed to hold an organizational meeting on Wednesday, September 21st. Steve Witt gets to the heart of the matter with the BK Democrats – see here
The September 21st meeting was delayed due to problems with the wifi.
The BK Democrats needed wifi to verify people as they entered. The wifi was down. The meeting was supposed to start at 7:00 pm. Instead of letting everyone in, they made them wait on line on the Boardwalk for over an hour. LOL!
Hell of a line getting into the @bkdems county committee meeting! Nice to see some serious turnout, although it apparently broke the system since it's taking a crazy long time for the line to actually move… pic.twitter.com/3FA3PvIFjO
— Mark Hanna District Leader 64 (@HannaDL64) September 22, 2022
This is the line to get into @bkdems meeting. It was supposed to start at 7. We have to leave by 10. That line is about an hour more based on the rate we’re going. pic.twitter.com/aH7mulBwTp
— Dave Stein (@Dave_Stein) September 22, 2022
The head of the BK Dems was not there – Rodneyse
After everyone is in, there is more technical problems. See the meeting rundown here. By 11:20 pm, they have only voted on one item.
Interestingly, Tori Kelly Burhas was supposed to be challenging Rodneyse – But this tweet below is very telling:

This wasn’t voted on:

The BK Democrats explained what happened on Thursday:

If you wonder why NYC is a mess, this is why. LOL.

September 21, 202268th Precinct’s Community Council Meeting

Captain Tolson at the 68th Precinct shared this:
a) Captain Tolson said that some new cars had the spare key in the glove box and the owners left it there.
**A resident said that the thieves are hanging out near the dealerships and following people home.
b) Robberies – Smoke Shops are being targeted. Captain Tolson said people should be buzzed into the stores because thieves are masked up and wearing hooded jackets trying to enter the store.
c) Captain Tolson said that he wants Bay Ridge residents to report cars that haven’t moved in a week to the 68th Precinct. Take a picture of the car and send it to your NCO’s email address.
d) Captain Tolson said he would rather people call and report something so they can take precautions. Call 911. If you hear a chainsaw, call 911 and report a catalytic converter being stolen.
e) Captain Tolson said when you go to the ATM, pull onto the card part – if it is shaky or comes off, don’t put your card in there. Cover your card and cover the buttons for your cards code.
f) Bulgeries were down 18% but now Bay Ridge businesses are being broken into (Eight Locations were hit – these five were named: Cebu, Campania, Positano, El Malecon, Beets & Carrots).
The thieves tried to get in BurgerFi, but they weren’t able to. The Captain thinks the thieves are monitoring the NYPDs radios.
g) Police officers can work at stores like Walgreens while they aren’t working. That may help.
