Lemonade Stand in Bay Ridge Today 10/10

Sixth grade students at Bay Ridge Catholic Academy are selling lemonade outside of The Ridge Shop at 8121 Third Avenue until 3:00 pm today.

They were inspired by a Pay it Forward story they read in class. Kudos to the incredible teacher at BRCA for inspiring her students to build this community and help others! (Also kudos to their parents and the Ridge Store for supporting them.)

They are donating the money to the local food pantry, Reaching Out Community Services on 77th Street and New Utrecht Avenue. So Sweet!

Passenger Window Removed From Car – Shore Rd

Last week, some cars were broken into on 71st Street off Shore Road by Xaverian. Residents there are looking for any neighbors who may have camera footage in that area from 10/4 – 10/8.

Yesterday, the owner of a BMW woke up to find that someone cut the wire and removed her passenger side window. (Pictured above) How awful! The area needs cameras and the NYPD patrolling!

Great NYC Council Bill to Limit Months for Outdoor Dining – Brannan is Not On The Bill

NYC Council has a bill that will limit outdoor dining. From March 31st to November 1st, restaurants will be able to use the streets, but not with the sheds. (Story here)

We should have seen Councilman Brannan on this bill because 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge because many of the outdoor sheds are not being used and (See NYC Council Bill) rats have been seen around the sheds because the streets need to be cleaned. (See here)

A few places like Skinflints and Cebu should be able to keep their outdoor structures as they are used and they add to the beauty of the street.

Helicopters are flying overhead to access the situation as well.

It’s sad that a person had to get to that step….hopefully, things will cool down soon.

Nicole Malliotakis Won The Debate Against Max Rose on CBS With Marcia Kramer

Nicole Malliotakis started out strong and remained strong throughout the debate. Why? Because she has consistently done the work as a Congress representative.

Max Rose began the debate agreeing with things that Nicole Malliotakis said the United States should about immigration. Malliotakis said that more judges need to be hired so that cases can be heard quicker – Rose agreed with her.

We’ve been represented by Rose and Malliotakis. Rose had a chance to do something about immigration when he was in office, he didn’t do anything that I know of. Malliotakis went to the border and showed us what the problem was at the border.

Each week, Malliotakis shares what is being voted on and why she is voting for or against it. It’s obvious that she likes this job as she reads and shares why she will vote against “loaded bills.” (A pack of bills with some social works, but also strange deals.) Rose NEVER told us about these bills.

Nicole Malliotakis said this during the debate:

1) Max Rose was one of Cuomo’s bail reform law supporters.

2) Max Rose supported Bill de Blasio’s plan to close Riker’s Island.

3) Max Rose voted to give gang members amnesty in our country.

4) Max Rose voted to give allow convicted murders and rapists over the age of 50 to be paroled.

Watch the debate here

In Bay Ridge, we know that Max Rose supported Andrew Gounardes, a champion of bail reform. Rose has never corrected Gounardes publicly.

Why didn’t Max Rose speak out against his buddy Gounardes? Andrew Gounardes voted to gerrymander Brooklyn to change the voting district for Rose. Rose even rented a storefront in Park Slope because they thought they beat the system! The court caught them and changed the maps due to politicial gerrymandering. (See here)

Max Rose’s only redeeming fact during the debate was that he served in the military. While we appreciate Rose’s service, he was not a good Congress representative. Malliotakis is a stronger representative and great at informing the community about what is going on in the government.
