September 23, 2022Brad Lander Held Up Traffic at a Climate Strike in NYC This Afternoon

There was something called a climate strike in NYC today from 2:00 – 4:30 pm.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT A CLIMATE STRIKE IS?
I didn’t, but I do now. A climate strike is when activists block traffic so they can share their viewpoint about a topic.
This climate strike was during the day when Brad Lander is supposed to be the Comptroller of NYC.

Lander went to take photos and hold up traffic while he was supposed to be working for NYC.

September 22, 2022Extreme Flooding in Homes on 10th Avenue in Dyker Heights After It Rains

Brooklynites spoke out about the flooding due to the sewers on 10th Avenue. In 1999, sewer from 67th to 77th Street on 10th Avenue were update – in the 80’s they were not.
Dyker Heights residents are experiencing extreme flooding in their basements after it rains. How come newspapers aren’t reporting this?
Fran Vella-Marrone said that this needs to be on the capital project list. She is writing to the DEP. A man yelled out that this complaint has fallen on deaf ears. Justin Brannan isn’t deaf to lobbyists.
Eight residents from Dyker Heights came up and spoke about the sewers and the flooding.
First up was Brad. Brad said that the CDC is watching all the diseases in the water – polio, monkeypox, etc. and that water is in his home. The residents on Dyker Heights text each other and hope that it doesn’t rain! Brad owns a sump pump and a backup pump (that’s just sad that he needs to own two).
Brad called Brannan and Gounardes’ offices, but didn’t receive help. Why aren’t Justin and Andrew getting Dyker Heights residents help?
Brannan was the chair of NYC’s Council’s Committee on Resiliency and Waterfronts – I never heard him speak about the flooding in Dyker Heights! Why didn’t Brannan or Gounardes use NY tax money to remedy this problem?
It was heart-breaking to hear what Brad and his wife are going through – this should not be something they need to worry about.
Ramona R. has been living in Dyker Heights for 13 years. Her tenant crawled out of his window to clean a drain because there was three feet of water outside of the house. Ramona said she can’t sleep when there is a rainstorm.
Jim N. said this has been going on for years. He and his neighbors are not receiving the basics to stop the flooding.
Maria M. from 82nd Street said that she was in her basement and it flooded. The water was up to her waist and she lost consciousness. She had to be taken to the hospital. False promises by politicians are the problem.
Steve spoke about cutting the sheetrock out of his walls five times due to flooding. He’s called 311 many times and nothing is being done.
Vincent R is an 81-year-old Dyker resident. He has to shovel out his basement when it rains. He is tired of Democrats and Republics fighting. He said he called Brannan’s office many times asking for help!
Dyker Heights residents cheered each time someone from the neighborhood spoke at the mic. We cheered for them too and hope they receive help they need this week.
Pro-tip: Invite Andrew Gounardes to your flooded basement, so he can take a photo. I haven’t seen Gounardes contribute any our tax money to helping Dyker Heights, have you?
Andrew Gounardes’ Mother, a member of CB 10, sat in the first row of the meeting and listened to people say how they couldn’t get help for YEARS.

September 22, 2022Gounardes & Frontus Voted to Legalized Marijuana. Now Some Smoke Shops in Bay Ridge Have Started Selling Items

Jaynemarie Capetanakis, the head of Community Board 10 said that Albany legalized marijuana for New York State. Jaynemarie didn’t say that Andrew Gounardes and Frontus voted for this.
Andrew Gounardes and Mathylde Frontus should be visiting the Bay Ridge businesses, which people have reported for selling drugs before it is legal in NYC. Gounardes and Frontus can engage these new business owners in a conversation.
Strangely, both politicians are up for re-election, but didn’t show up for the CB-10 meeting.
When politicians go to Albany, they vote with their friends. But a lot of Albany’s bills don’t work for Brooklyn. People here take things to the extreme.
