What Andrew Gounardes Didn’t Tell Brooklyn About Kathy’s Hochul’s 2023 Plans for Bail Law?

The press shared that Kathy Hochul is going to change bail law so that judges can hold defendants until trial.

Andrew Gounardes summarized Governor’s Hochul’s speech and failed to mention the changes she wanted to make to bail law.

Not surprising: There is not one mention of property tax reform because Andrew Gounardes is terrible at representing this community.

Century’s is Gone for Year, But Local Politicians Didn’t Adjust the Street

This light should have been removed years ago! Local politicians are too busy playing on Twitter, playing with lobbyists and not taking care of the area.

Commercial Trucks Took Over Our Neighborhood

This truck and trailer are being stored on our streets. The monster vehicle has been parked on 7th Avenue and 88th Street for almost a week, when a Gracie, a resident snapped the photo.

The truck received no tickets even though it has been parked overnight.

A driver is allowed a rest – NYC allows for 3 hours – not weeks at a time.

Google Images

On Friday, January 6th around 1:00 pm. the armored truck pulled up outside of Chase Bank on 8th Avenue and 55th Street in Sunset Park. (Yahoo News)

The driver stayed in the truck. The News wrote that “his co-worker put the bag of cash on the bumper.” (Source)

Two crooks asked the driver for directions. A third guy, seen above, grabbed the bag and ran. This sounds like a scene out of a bad bank robbery movie!

Police wrote that he has a light complexion, he’s slim, has a black hat, black hooded jacket, gray pants and black sneakers.

RIP Norman Fruchter – Hit by a Car in Bay Ridge While Walking His Dog

On December 22nd at 10:15 pm, Norman Fruchter was hit by a vehicle on 68th Street and Bliss Terrace in Bay Ridge. (Source)

**Take Action for Norman – see here

Norman Frutcher was walking home from Owl’s Head Park, with his dog, when a Hyundai Elantra drove up the block in reverse and hit him. Frutcher lived on Bliss Terrace.

Norman was brought to the hospital with a serious head injury. He died in NYU Langone on January 4th.

Streetsblog wrote that someone saw the surveillance video and that not only did the driver drive in reverse, the drive also drove forward and hit Norman again. How awful! (Source)

Norman Fruchter was 85 years old. Norman was an educational equity leader and activist. His contributions to this city are written about in huge articles. (Here and here)

Not one leader in this community spoke out for Norman. Most of Bay Ridge doesn’t know this happened. We are getting information about our community from people outside of our community! (Streetsblog) Why do we elect people, who are unable to communitcate with and for the community?

Lev Fruchter just lost his father and he is speaking out because he doesn’t want it to happen to anyone else. (Source)

This story gets a lot sadder……Norman’s wife, Rachel Fruchter was killed by a reckless driver in Prospect Park twenty-five years ago, while riding her bicycle in Prospect Park. (Source)

RIP Norman. Prayers for Norman’s children, they deserved a better response from this city.

The police did not charge the driver who killed Norman – not even for driving up the block backwards! Norman’s children have had to go through both their parents being killed and no one being held responsible.

When Norman died, our elected leaders should have pushed the District Attorney, to charged the driver for reckless driving and negligence, which caused Norman Fruchter’s death.

Politicians aren’t doing their jobs and they are hiding the deaths of our neighbors. By December 23rd, everyone in our community should have been told about the accident.

Politicians are too concerned with making bills for lobbyists, rather than street justice! How does a person who has driven in reverse drive away from an accident?

American Traffic Solutions (the red light camera company that issues tickets) is winning in our community and throughout this city because politicians think technology will stop reckless driving. It isn’t doing anything, but making money for the city, for the company and the politicians who have accepted their donations. Streetsblog noted that there is not a crosswalk to help pedestrians

Streetsblog needs to adjust their thinking and stop “endorsing” candidates who are failing Brooklyn communities. (See here and here)

Take Action for Norman Fruchter, Who Was Hit By a Car in Bay Ridge

Norman Fruchter was hit by a car driving in reverse near Owl’s Head Park in Bay Ridge on December 22, 2022. (Info here)

Norman died from his injuries on January 4, 2023. The driver was never charged, even with reckless driving for driving backwards up the street. Norman’s death was caused by the negligence of this driver.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Our neighborhood has a lot of seniors and they should be able to walk around without being scared of reckless driving!

Please asked the Brooklyn District Attorney, Eric Gonzalez to charge the driver.

Eric Gonzalez’ Twitter: @BrooklynDA

Phone: 718-250-2340 Monday to Friday 9 am -5pm

Email: [email protected] (address was not on his website!)

This is the email I sent to the DA – feel free to copy some or all:

Dear Eric Gonzalez,

On December 22nd, an 85-year-old man, named Norman Fruchter was hit by a car in Bay Ridge. The driver drove backwards up the street and hit Norman. Norman died at NYU Hospital on January.

This morning, we read about this incident and we are shocked that the driver was not charged. This driver’s negligence and reckless driving caused Norman’s death.

Streetsblog says there is a video of this incident and Norman was hit a second time. (See here)

Politicians did not inform the community that this incident happened on 12/22 or that Norman had died on 1/4. We have elected leaders, who are more engaged with lobbyists, than the community.

Norman’s family just buried their father, but they wanted to make sure that no other people were hurt in our community. Reckless driving can not continue in a community with many seniors.

Please charge the driver with the appropriate charges immediately, DA Gonzalez. Brooklyn needs to set the tone because even our politicians think the rules of the road are a joke.

Thank you!

Daytime Robbery in Bay Ridge – Everyone Silent

A Staten Island reporter wrote that a 20-year-old woman in Bay Ridge was forced to take out $1000 from the bank on 5th Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway. (See here)

This happened on December 31, 2022 at 1:00 pm.

Senator Gounardes didn’t address this robbery when he re-opened his office after vacation.

Councilman Brannan was also silent because putting his picture on another Councilman’s event flyer.

We need representatives who will take action for the community.
