Andrew Gounardes and Bobby Carroll Played Politics Instead of Helping the Homeless in Bklyn

On November 11th, Adam White was arrested for removing a piece of plastic from around the license plate of a Chevy SUV parked near St. Marks Avenue. The other driver called the police. White was arrested and charged with criminal mischief.

White’s hearing was expected to be today, December 1st, but yesterday the Brooklyn District Attorney dropped the charges against White. Why did the Brooklyn DA take so long to drop the charges?

Streetsblog printed stories about the Eric Gonzalez, the Brooklyn DA dropping the charges against White yesterday.

Kathy Park Price from Transalt knew that the charges were dropped, but Transalt STILL wanted to have the presser. **They put their presser at 11:00 am, before the Clean Slate Presser at 12:00 pm (See here)

Today, Gounardes and Bobby Carroll should have dropped out of this presser and helped the homeless men on the R train! (See here) They are representatives for Brooklyn residents not staff for Transalt.

Watch the videos below – Andrew didn’t share it! Gounardes wasn’t able to stand up against his friends going through red light cameras (Justin Brannan, Brad Lander and Jumaane Williams), but when Transalt is next to him he talks a good game and pretends he is a street advocate.

Gounardes said it wasn’t a crime for Adam to remove the plastic around another person’s license plate. That can’t be correct – else people would be helping themselves to parts on other people’s cars every day.

Why didn’t Gounardes and Caroll meet with the police last month and help resolve this? We should not see politicians at pressers by groups going after the police like this! The politician’s job is to work for the community and resolve issues!

The man standing with Gounardes is holding a sign that is not true. The police have never said, “Go ahead, hide your license plate.

Picture from Video

Today was a picture-taking moment for Gounardes and Caroll.

Who are these politicians representing?

Transportation Alternatives. The man has already been freed!! Instead of helping Brooklyn, they are playing politics for a picture.

On Twitter, Gounardes mentions his bill that went nowhere because Gounardes spent his time pushing a lobbyist bill for red light cameras (See here) instead of getting this bill out of committee. (See here)

Transportation Alternatives have lobbyists – the homeless men don’t.

Chris McCreight Complained About New NYS Assembly District Maps Moments After They Are Released

Democratic District Leader, Chris McCreight expressed disbelief over the new NYS Assembly maps right after they were released. Why? McCreight wanted to run for Assembly.

Sadly, McCreight didn’t say a word when our area was gerrymandered at the Congressional, state or even City Council level. That’s why they call him #Silent Chris McCreight.

Inside Malone’s Chophouse in Bay Ridge

This is where Malone’s Chophouse will be on 3rd Avenue and 96th Street! (Info)

They gutted the entire inside of both Embers and Vinnie’s Butcher shop. The two rooms are attached and the fresh wood floors and walls looks great. (More pics tomorrow)

It’s exciting to see the start of someone’s dreams coming together in Bay Ridge!

Senator Gounardes Doing the Usual – Fighting with Conservatives Instead of Helping Anyone in Our Community

Tonight, Senator Gounardes used social media to go back and forth because Kassar wrote about Iwen Chu. (See here) Get ready for two years of Gounardes doing nothing more than this on Twitter:

Step down Andrew Gounardes and stop using our seat to play politics, gerrymander and push lobbyist-backed bills.

On Thursday, December 1st, Transalt will show their hold on Gounardes. (Seen here)

Transalt doesn’t know that Gounardes has let vehicles remain on Poly Place in Bay Ridge, year after year. Andrew hasn’t had the vehicles removed here.

In June, Gounardes stood in front of the community and said the vehicles would be removed and they are still there.

Kassar Wrote About Iwen Chu – She Tried To Make It About Bigotry & Sexism

Jerry Kassar, head of the NYS Conservative Party wrote about Iwen Chu in his column. Kassar criticized Chu’s bad campaign.

Yet, Kassar and Chu have a lot in common. Both remained silent when elected leaders advocated for lobbyists, rather than this community. (Gounardes hereGolden here)

Iwen Chu tweeted a response to Kassar.

Chu tried to assert that Kassar was attacking her because she was Asian or a female politician, but Kassar didn’t enter that territory. Chu knows a Conservative vs. Democrat quarrel isn’t newsworthy.

Kassar wrote about Iwen because he knows he can make elected Democrats flip out with three sentences. They fall for it every time instead of just ignoring him. Jerry does it to make the Republicans/Conservatives laugh:

Iwen Chu refused to debate her opponent before the election. She didn’t want voters to hear from Vito LaBella. LaBella is a strong speaker and advocated in Brooklyn for many years. The sad part is the two knew each other. Chu watched LaBella lead and win for Brooklyn families and thought it was okay to do a dirty campaign against him.

All I have seen from Iwen in the past is she took photos with Gounardes after he voted to reform bail laws. Not once has Iwen said that Gounardes should adjust the laws, so repeat offenders can’t hurt people.

Iwen Chu has not supported female politicians running for office in Brooklyn. When Mathylde Frontus ran for office, we didn’t see Iwen Chu step up for Frontus. Newspapers reported that the male politicians had a “backroom deal.” The deal tried to squeeze Frontus out of a position. Why didn’t Chu help Frontus? (Info)

We didn’t see Chu come out in support of a female Comptroller either. The female candidate was a lot more qualified for the position. (Info) Why hasn’t Chu supported female politicians?

This year, when Gounardes and Frontus voted to gerrymander Brooklyn, Iwen Chu never said a word.

The new district lines for District 17 benefitted Iwen Chu. Districts aren’t supposed to be made for politicians; they are supposed to be made for a community.

I learned about gerrymandering from Andrew Gounardes years ago, when he was a man who had integrity.

District 17 was created to remove Republicans from Gounardes’ district, so he was guaranteed a win. It wasn’t about our community – it became about Gounardes waterfront district. Not one paper covered a story on the money Gounardes accepted and who may be interested in Brooklyn’s waterfront.

For the next ten years, young people in our community will have no reason to vote for a senator in Bay Ridge – the district is rigged and there is no reason to have an election, other than for Gounardes to collect more campaign contributions.

Iwen Chu never spoke out about the failure of Gounardes and Brannan to act for Asian residents in our community. We didn’t see a pepper spray distribution for Asian women here in Brooklyn – like this one in Manhattan.

In March 2020, right before the pandemic broke out in Brooklyn, Chu was with Gounardes at a Restaurant on 8th Avenue. (See photo below)

Gounardes claimed people weren’t going to a restaurant on 8th Avenue because they were racist. Why didn’t Iwen Chu tell Gounardes that people feared dying from the pandemic that was happening in China. No one corrected #TeamDimSum.

When an Asian grandmother was set on fire, Gounardes didn’t do anything. A rapper came to Brooklyn because politicians failed to take action. (Info) Iwen didn’t speak out against Gounardes or any other politician in Brooklyn then either.

Finally, when the Nathan’s deal happened, everyone in this community was upset, except Iwen Chu, Peter Abbate, Andrew Gounardes and Justin Brannan. They were all silent. (Info)

In the coming year, I estimate Iwen will vote with Gounardes and Gianaris 90% of the time.

In January, we’ll see what bills Senator Chu introduces. Since Irene Chu worked in a politician’s office for years, she knows how a bill is written and there won’t be any delay in advocating for the community. (Right?)
