Sheriff Raided Ft. Hamilton & 45th Street Shop And Found Marijuana Cigarettes & Edibles

Fox News taped the sheriff as he and his team raided the Smoke Shop on Fort Hamilton Parkway and 45th Street in Borough Park, Brooklyn. They seized a lot of products there. (See News Story)

The store had edibles in bags that looked liked cereal packages that people would recognize. The real Lucky Charms is not spelled with a Z.

Instead of Packy Sticks, there were Packy Woods:

They had marijuana cigarettes in prescription containers.

And snack bags with edibles were being sold.

This store had not applied for a license to sell these products.

December 4, 2022Ari Kagan is Expected to Challenge Brannan

Woot Woot! What good news!

NYC Council changed district lines. In the Summer, Bay Ridge started out with Staten Island. Bay Ridge Democrats complained and the district was moved to Bay Ridge and Sunset Park. Brannan could never beat Alexa Aviles.
Then the district was changed to this gerrymandered monster with one street connector for the monster’s head.

Ari Kagan was pushed out. Current elected leaders and district leaders in Brooklyn didn’t say anything. Chris McCreight and Tori Burhas were silent (as usual). (Story here)
Ari Kagan switched parties and will challenge Justin Brannan as a Republican. Ari Kagan and Mike Ragusa (his website) will have a primary. Bye bye Brannan!
Anyone who has backed Brannan in the past has no idea how many lobbyists projects he has pushed in the area. Please check before you endorse/support. It’s clear, we need a new representative.
Ari Kagan’s work has been impressing Brooklynites:

Chris McCreight and other Democrats were bitter about the news.

If McCreight spoke out against the gerrymandered district which overtook Ari Kagan’s district, this wouldn’t have made more divisions in the Democratic Party. (See here)
McCreight’s silence to preserve his position in Brannan’s office doesn’t work out well for Brooklyn.

December 4, 2022Landlords Opposed to NYC Council Taking Away Background Checks Rally – Intro 632

On Monday, December 5th, there will be a rally on the steps of City Hall Steps to oppose Bill 632.

December 4, 2022Changes to the Express Bus in Bay Ridge – Register for the CB 10 Meeting on February 9th

The MTA is making changes to bus routes in NYC. (Read about it here)
*Years ago, every politician took credit for the bus routes, BUT NOW not one has told Bay Ridge about these changes or announced this meeting! The info is being shared by neighbors who use the Express Bus.
For the express buses, one of the changes they are proposing is moving the Senator Street stop to 3rd and the Bay Ridge Avenue intersection, which is already crowded. Wait times will increase for the X37 during peak hours.
The MTA are removing some stops to make the buses run a little faster. They lost drivers during COVID, so they cannot add more buses.
You can see the proposed changes here.
Community Board 10 will be discussing these changes at the February 9, 2023 meeting at 6:30 – 8:30 pm. You can register for the meeting here.
You can attend this meeting here
Meeting ID: 872 2144 3989

December 4, 2022Stanley Ng, A Man With Solutions Is Running for NYC Council in District 43

New NYC Council districts were created this year. A new Asian district was created (seen in bright blue in the map below).
Bay Ridge is in the green monster, Gerrymanderzilla District 47.

Stanley Ng is a man with solutions!
Stanley has been fighting against broken systems for years. (Look at the date on this) Racists and segregationists won’t have a change with Ng. Remember Ng was there to fight against this mess.
Ng has been an advocate for high quality schools in Brooklyn for children for many years. He was a member of District 20’s Community Education Council. (See here)
Stanley Ng is not a politician, so I am glad to see this community builder running for office!
A quick search will show that Stanley has worked with various politicians (both Democrats and Republicans) because he is a leader and someone who believes in helping his community. He’s fought against Asian hate, when many leaders in our area didn’t!
In 2021, Ng was honored by Eric Adams for distributing food to people in need during the pandemic.

Last May, Stanley Ng asked what most people in our area have asked, “Is there a reason why commercial trucks cannot be towed in our area of South Brooklyn?”

I know Stanley Ng (we are not friends, but I know him). He’s a good father and a good man. He will make a great councilman because he is a community builder.

December 3, 2022Bay Ridge Girl Scouts & NYPD Doing Good

— Avery Pereira (@AveryPereira) December 3, 2022
Avery shared this great photo with the Bay Ridge Girl Scouts & 68th Precinct police collecting gifts for children at Heart to Heart in Bay Ridge. It’s great that this business allowed them to share their location too!
Heart to Heart is a great local store in Bay Ridge to get help picking a gift for someone who you are unsure what to get. They have a lot of nice things, and the staff is fantastic. 9006 – 3rd Avenue.

December 3, 2022Bay Ridge Weed Shop Thief Arrested

Around 7:40 pm, a thief robbed this smoke shop.
The thief got on the R train at 86th Street towards Manhattan.
The police caught up with him at Nevins Street and after a foot pursuit, arrested him. (Info here)
It’s good the 68th Precinct was able to catch the thief, but he probably was released, so does it matter that they caught him?

Andrew Gounardes and other state representatives didn’t put in the work needed for the rollout of weed distribution. Community Board 10 sent a letter to the state legislature to make changes. CB 10 shouldn’t have had to do Gounardes’ jobs.
Too bad Justin Brannan took so long to speak out against the illegal weed shops. Plenty of robberies happened at these shops and Brannan didn’t approach the issue until this Fall. Maybe Brannan is realizing that the neighborhood isn’t better with 22 smoke shops.

December 3, 2022Rally Outside of Peter Abbate’s Office on 12/6

Will Peter Abbate be back from Puerto Rico by Tuesday for this rally? A journalist reported that Abbate is having a fundraiser in Puerto Rico! The article says Abbate already has $700,000 – why would he continue to fundraise? (Article)
How much money did Abbate use to run his election? Abbate could have run commercials on primetime television against Lester, but he barely campaigned because he thought he had this election in the bag.

The Vote Out happened and no one cared where Lester Chang lived because Peter Abbate didn’t help them.
Abbate had the clear advantage with Democrats in the area, but even Democrats voted against him:
