Assemblyman Brooks-Krasny Shares the NYPD’s Response to the #ConeyIslandTakeOver

Last Summer, the news showed that teens were’ “hosting” huge gatherings at beaches in Queens.

They call these social media parties “take overs” because so many teens show up after seeing the invitation on Instagram or TikTok.

The police have to respond to these large gatherings because things get rowdy.

Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny shared the police’s response to the Coney Takeover event today:

The police in Coney Island will need to search social media for future Coney Takeovers or Linkups because the warmer weather will bring more events.

Attempted Robbery With Knife – 97th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway in Bay Ridge

This afternoon around 4:30 pm, there was an attempted robbery with a knife on 97th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway. This was on the Citizen App at 4:52 pm today:

97th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway doesn’t have businesses. It is residential and then the park (or under the highway) is on the other side. See: https://shorturl.at/5L9aI

The Citizen App says it was an attempted robbery, so does that mean the thief didn’t get people’s phone/money/belongings?

The description says that the man had a hooded sweatshirt with sparkles on itthat’s interesting.

NYC Sues Solar Panel Company

Radiant Solar went door to door and sold solar panels to homes owners in New York City. See News:

https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/new-york-city-radiant-solar-lawsuit-william-james-bushell

Their pitch to homeowners was basically: “Let me see your existing electric bill. If you install solar panels your electric bill will drop to _____.” They also said that government incentives will help pay for it.

Instead home owners were signed up for loans for $30,000 – $40,000. Some people didn’t realize they had taken out a loan until they got a letter from the lender. (Source: https://shorturl.at/nDq1d )

About 370 New York City homeowners were affected by these loans.

Some people who had the panels installed reported that:

  • The panels were installed facing the wrong direction, so they didn’t produce enough power.
  • They had roof damage/ leaks or a collapsed ceilings after installation

New York City filed a lawsuit against the company and its owner. The city is asking for: $18 million to repay homeowners.

A realtor shared this story here:

Why Was a Helicopter Flying Over the 70’s in Bay Ridge Today?

Ridgites were sharing photos of police cars in the area and helicopters over the 70’s in Bay Ridge this afternoon.

Someone even posted the flight path of the helicopter:

The Citizen App said that the police were chasing two guys on a dirt bike. I’ll update if I find anything that confirms this.

No politicians offered any explanation about what is going on because we don’t have any that are connected to the community.

Were Shots Fired on 93rd Street in Bay Ridge?

Someone reported to the police that shots were fired on 93rd Street between 3rd and 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge this afternoon.

The address provided on the Citizen App 354 – 93rd Street is the apartment building down the block from the former Prince Hotel site.

The 68th Precinct police officers would be able to tell the community if shots were fired because we have ShotSpotter in our area. But we don’t have a community officer to share that information.

NYC Council representative Santosuosso may be on materity leave, but someone should be providing updates from her office.

Senator Gounardes was busy filming and posting another goofy video instead of updating the community. From the video:

At a recent Community Board 10 meeting, neighbors from 93rd Street asked for help because there are reoccurring problems on this block near the “transient hotel” (the term they used at the meeting).

93rd Street neighbors, when you see this reach out to me on Facebook or Insta.
