White Rabbit Seen at Owl’s Head Park

A white rabbit was seen this morning at Owl’s Head Park. Someone probably got him for Easter and put him out. Animal activists looked all over for the rabbit.

Hopefully, someone who loves rabbits took him home.

If you see the rabbit, contact: [email protected]

Justin Brannan Did Not Support Legislation to Stop the NYC Retirees From Having Their Healthcare Changed

Councilman Charles Barron and other NYC Council Members including Alexa Aviles, Inna Vernikov and Ari Kagan have a bill to protect the health care of NYC Retirees. (See the bill)

Source: AARP

Councilman Justin Brannan has not co-sponsored the bill and is on the list below of Council members who don’t support retirees!

Brannan used to support unions. Now seniors are fighting for the right to keep the keep the healthcare plan that they worked many years to get!

250,000 NYC retirees are being forced to a new healthcare plan and Justin Brannan is #Silent.

NYC Retirees are not getting a choice of Medicare Advantage or traditional Medicare. Retirees living in other states have it the worst because many doctors won’t accept the plan. There needs to be the traditional Medicare and a supplemental option. I’m surprised Justin Brannan would think that as fair for the former NYC workers!!

The retirees have called on Brannan to take action and co-sponsor the bill. Let’s see if he supports union workers!

NYT Health shared that Medicare Advantages has a limited number of psychiatrists in network.

NYC spent nine million dollars on sending out surveys about mental health (there is a $5.00 bill in the envelope) and participants receive $20 for filling out the survey. (Story here) Now they can’t fund the retirerees healthcare?

July 4th Rain Flooded Some Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights Homes

Many residents in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights spent yesterday afternoon cleaning up their flooded basement.

Councilman Brannan’s response to the resident was a link to an article from 2021.

Residents from different streets shared about how much water was in their home. On 10th Avenue in Dyker Heights residents are not just getting rain water – they are also getting sewage! How does this problem continue to exist?

Later, Brannan told a resident that installing a backwater valve works. The problem with this is backwater valves cost $12,000 to install.

For years, this problem has been reported to Senator Gounardes and Councilman Brannan. Last Fall, Dyker Heights residents (many seniors) were at the Community Board 10 Meeting saying they were in water that waist high.

The old pipes underground are undersized and can’t handle the volume of water, so the pressure pushes the water into homes via drains and toilets.

Councilman Justin Brannan was the head of NYC Council’s Council’s Committee on Resilency and Waterfronts. Brannan was the head of NYC’s Finance Committee and he didn’t do anything to have the drains updated. We need new leaders here!

People in our neighborhood are living in fear of a rainstorms and no one is helping them!

Avoid the Mailbox Outside – 13th Ave Post Office

A Dyker Heights resident shared that the mailbox outside of the 11228 post office on 13th Avenue and 83rd Strreet has glue on it.

Thieves put glue on the box, so it will catch envelopes. When the thieves find an envelope with a check, they wash the check and erase what you wrote on it. Then they use the check.

The supervisor at the Dyker Heights Post Office told the resident that they finally put surveillance outside the post office. This has been going on since 2019 and no one thought to put a camera there until now? (See here)
