A High School Student Was Shot in Brooklyn Today. Who Responded?

Moms Demand Action did not speak out about a teen being shot on 20th Avenue and 62nd Street. (Foridun Maulonou) No one was demanding action – Nothing, Nada, Zilch! This group loves to come out during our elections, but not when real guns come out.

Councilman Ari Kagan – He was the first pol to share information. I liked that he spoke with the police before tweeting.

Senator Iwen Chuno message on Facebook or Twitter. The following day, Senator Chu posted a message about seniorsnothing about students. (See here)

Assemblyman Lester Chang

Congresswoman Yvette Clark – nothing

Jumaane Williams, NYC Public Advocate – nothing (4 photos of Jumaane) The following day Jumaane mentioned the shooting, but did not take any action.

Councilman Justin Brannan – although the incident didn’t happen in his district, there is a good chance the teen lives in his district. Even if he doesn’t. a teen being shot on 20th Avenue and 62nd Street should have brought some concern. Brannan did not share that a woman was killed in Bay Ridge on Sunday night.

15-Year Old Shot in on 20th Avenue and 62nd St.

Around 1:00 pm today, a 15-year-old was shot in the back on 20th Avenue and 62nd Street in Mapleton, Brooklyn. (News)

The Post has a video of the shooter with the gun! (See here) It’s awful. The shooter is with five other teens. Most are wearing a face mask and their hood up, but a few aren’t so the police will be able to find the shooter.

An ambulance brought the teen to Maimonides Hospital. (See info and videos of the police)

The police are searching for the shooter, who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants and gray sneakers. Update: After seeing the video, the sneakers will also be helpful in identifying the shooter. Planes flew over Bensonhurst for a long times looking for the shooter.

Update: At 5:00 pm, the news said no one was arrested. Ari Kagan commented here.

Sadly, several articles are wrote that two groups of teens in this area were not getting along.

Prayers for this young teen – it said he was unconscious after being shot. Update: At 5:00 pm, the news said he was in critical condition.

Man Forcibly Touching Woman in Bay Ridge 7/10

On Monday, July 10th, a man grabbed a woman on the butt across from 9801 Shore Road right before 12:00 noon.

The officer writing this sign wrote the victim was annoyed. That description minimizes the act. WE ARE ANNOYED THIS WAS NOT SHARED WITH THE COMMUNITY. The victim must have been SHOCKED that a stranger was touching her body near noon in Bay Ridge!

Also left out of the description was the man’s red sneakers. Finally, it says the man is 32 years old, but they don’t know his hair color or eye color. How do they know he is 32 years old?

We should have seen Captain Schafer share this information with the community on the NYPD 68th Precinct social media accounts, but she didn’t.

Not one politician representing Bay Ridge shared this with the community. This happened a week ago and Councilman Brannan didn’t think the neighborhood needed to know!

Thank you to the residents who are printing the signs and sharing the information to keep neighbors safe!

Old Sign in Bay Ridge – Verrazano Deli

On the corner of 4th Avenue and 92nd Street, a deli closed. They are renovating the place and removed the old sign.

Under it was a blast from the past –> the Verrazano Deli sign, which residents are feeling nostalgic about.

Justin Brannan Does Not Support NYC Retirees

Justin Brannan is not supporting NYC Retirees. NYC Council District 47

I saw someone on Facebook write that they spoke to Justin Brannan and Brannan said he supports NYC Retirees. I knew this wasn’t true, so I asked Marianne Pizzitola on Twitter.

Pizzitola responded that Brannan had not supported the retirees in keeping their healthcare and this photo of Brannan with other NYC Council members who aren’t supporting retirees.

The retirees also noted that Ari Kagan has backed them since the beginning!

Justin Brannan is not supporting NYC Retirees, But Ari Kagan has supported them from the start. NYC Council District 47

Justin Brannan wrote the retirees a strange email and incorrectly told them the Taylor Law allows THEM to collectively bargain. (See email) The retirees do not get to collectively bargain! It’s strange Justin Brannan does not know that!

Councilman Justin Brannan Knows Former Union Workers Should Not Worry About their Healthcare. NYC Council District 47

If Brannan didn’t like the legislation introduced into NYC, he could have written other legislation. Justin Brannan has done nothing to help the retirees keep their healthcare plans.

Yesterday, the retirees fired back at Brannan social media:

Councilman Brannan Gets Thrashed for not supporting NYC Retirees - District 47

I also saw a person incorrectly state on Facebook that Justin Brannan’s mother was part of the retirees. While Brannan’s mother is a retired teacher, she worked for Catholic schools, so her healthcare is not affected. (See here)

Update: The Judge ordered in favor of the NYC Retirees!
