RIP Litsa “Julia” Constantellis – Bay Ridge

Many people know Mrs. Constantellis as the iconic mother of comedian, Gus Constantellis.

For years, Gus has shared his Mother with the world through his “Greek Mom” bits on TikTok and Youtube, as well as his at comedy clubs.

Last week, while vacationing in Greece with family, Gus’ Mom had a brain aneurysm, which caused a stroke and she did not recover. Yesterday, she passed away. (Info)

The family is having her funeral on Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Church in Kapeleto, Elias, Greece.

I’m glad Gus’ Mom was able to experience everyone’s love for Greek Mom.

@constantlygus #greektiktok #greekcomedy #greekmom #greekfunny #balkanmemes #balkantiktok #greekamerican #momsoftiktok ? original sound – Gus Constantellis

She spent her life loving and taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren. She also loved cooking and feeding them.

Gus’ videos allowed people to get to know his Mom. People enjoyed all of the stories Gus shared about his Greek Mom because they are personal and some are very funny. Plus who doesn’t want to learn to make authentic kolokithokeftedes from a pro?

In February 2022, she was able to see Gus’ show live and after the show, she danced with him on the stage.

RIP. Prayers for her husband, children and grandchildren. Her memory will be eternal with those she loved well.

Update: Gus honored his mother’s memory with a great video. She must be smiling down from heaven.

Congratulations on Your New Home, Andrew Gounardes! Will He Make Property Tax Reform?

Congratulations to Andrew Gounardes and his wife on their new home in Bay Ridge.

It’s strange that not one person congratulated the couple on social media.

You can see this on Acris. (Here)

The real estate office posted that the house went into contract in April. In April, the newspaper printed that Andrew Gounardes changed his vote on Good Cause Eviction after protesters threatened to go to Andrew’s house if he didn’t sign. (Source)

Did the socialists know about Gounardes’ new home?

Will Gounardes pay high property taxes in 2024? It appears he will.

Before taking office in 2019, Andrew Gounardes ran on a platform where he told constituents he was going to change the property taxes.

It’s over four years later and Gounardes has shown he is not a man of integrity. This year, he didn’t even try to do anything about property taxes.

The new gerrymandered district that Bay Ridge was forced into has a lot of people paying low property taxes at the other side of the district, so Gounardes did not push any property tax reform AT ALL this year.

In 2019, Andrew delayed taking action because he said he was waiting for the property tax commission. (Video) The Commission returned it’s results the following year and Gounardes did nothing.

After the first year of no action, Andrew Gounardes messaged me that he would get it done the following year.

This year Gounardes was focused on passing Congestion Pricing, rather than helping his community. Gounardes also voted to give himself a raise. (Info)

In prior years, Gounardes pushed for the red light cameras that Justin Brannan was lobbied for. (Info) Gounardes accepted a donation from the company, American Traffic Solutions. (Info)

The last page of his documents shows a federal credit union was used and the sheet says that there is tax exemption….but it’s not property taxes.

Why Wasn’t the Street Paving Schedule Sent to Bay Ridge Residents On Blocks Involved?

Resident waking up to a closed street

Communication in Bay Ridge is very poor. Elected politicians want to take photos and play on social media.

Instead of sending a monthly schedule of potential streets that will be paved around the neighborhood, politicians sent out huge postcards with their photos!

The schedule for street paving has been published for years. (See here)

Week after week, Bay Ridge residents shared online that they were surprised that their street was closed for paving.

Some on Shore Road had their cars moved – signs were hung the evening before, but they already parked. Other residents woke up to a closed street and had to figure out a new way to get to an appointment.

Elect new leaders who will share the information with the community!

Councilwoman Inna Vernikov Showed Up to Court To Represent Brooklynites

Yesterday, the proceeding to remove the Right to Shelter started in NYC. Councilwoman Inna Vernikov showed up to court because she was told that electeds would be welcome in the room.

But they didn’t allow the Councilwoman in chambers!

Councilwoman Inna Vernikov wanted to make sure the court knew that the right to shelter can not be used for migrants. (See letter)

The Court didn’t resolve anything and the next court date is almost a month away – not until September 18th, so they aren’t looking to get this done.

Three Dispensaries Planned for Coney Island?! Meeting August 23, 2023

Coney Island is having a meeting tonight, Wednesday, August 23rd about the dispensaries.

In Bay Ridge, there are over 20 illegal pot dispensaries. Senator Andrew Gounardes voted to legalize marijuana, even though there is no test that police officers in NY can use to test if someone is high.

Governor Kathy Hochul told us on July 4th weekend that she was closing and fining illegal dispensaries. Not one has been closed since her announced and Senator Gounardes has failed to follow through with this.

Rally Against New Migrant Shelter in Brooklyn

There is a rally against the new migrant shelter being planned for Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn on Thursday, August 24th at 5:00 pm. Location: The Toys R Us Parking Lot at 2875 Flatbush Avenue.

The Federal Government approved this site. (See news) Two thousand five hundred migrants will be able to stay here.

Surprisingly, this rally is being supported by some Democrats and Republicans.

I didn’t think people would be upset with a shelter at Floyd Bennett Field but people are upset.

Most people are upset because the migrant crisis is not being dealt with and people are still being accepted into NYC.

The Assembly member representing Floyd Bennett Field, Jaime Williams is a Democrat and she is not happy. She even wants to know the process to deport non-asylum seekers.

Supporters of the migrants believe that Floyd Bennett Field is too far away from amenities. All of those amenities can be brought to Floyd Bennett Field. There is a lot of room there for the men and buses can be added to this area as well.
