September 4, 2023Did Istanbul Park in Bay Ridge Close?
Update: A new restaurant will be coming here. It’s owned by the same people that own Brooklyn Roots. This is not going to be an Italian restaurant though – it’s going to have something for everyone and be called, “The Corner.”

Istanbul Park has been closed since mid-August.
I thought they just went away for vacation, but there phone is out and this is what Grubhub shows:

The place always seemed to have a good amount of people at it. It’s sad to see the gates down and the quiet corner.

September 4, 2023Not One Citibike Removed – Sunday 11:30 am

This is the Citibikes at Leif Ericson Park on 4th Avenue and 66th Street in Bay Ridge.
On a beautiful Sunday at 11:30 am, not one bike was being used.
Citibike is not cheap, so that may be the reason for the full rack.

September 4, 2023Gounardes Says the R Train is Faster, Without Checking to See If It is Faster!

The MTA announced shorter wait times for the N and R train during the day on Tuesday, August 22nd. (Source)
Senator Andrew Gounardes send these large, full color postcards saying he delivered a faster train.

This isn’t true – the train is not faster in Bay Ridge. Many from Bay Ridge started sharing times online.

Years ago, Gounardes used the train, so it should not come as a surprise when people send him photos from the station.

Gounardes and Brannan did not respond to the people (and the people were polite) (Example here)

Why didn’t Senator Gounades go check if the train was faster before printing and sending out the cards? That must have cost thousands of our tax dollars to do!
People noticed that the trains were spaced out in the morning. Meaning: less service!

The only winner seems to be the company printing the large post cards!
Anyone know if this a Bay Ridge company?!

September 4, 2023Poly Place – Brannan and Gounardes Told Us This Would Be Cleared in June 2022 – Now It’s Worse!

On June 6, 2022, Councilman Brannan and Senator Gounardes held a meeting and told the community that the trucks on Poly Place would be moved. (Info)

At prior commanding officer from the 68th Precinct said he was going to change the parking and that would stop these trucks from stopping here. But nothing was done!

Once in awhile, the NYPD would tow a few trucks and post a picture. Then Justin Brannan would share the picture on social media and pretend that the job was done.

Now a year later, the area is much worse. Some vehicles aren’t even parking in the correct direction.

Drivers aren’t sleeping in their trucks, as some people said.

This hitch is just parked – without a truck.

We need new leaders – people who care about maintaining the area and not playing on social media.

The men we have in office have shown that they are not able to get this job done.

Maybe each guy thinks the other is doing the work, so that’s why neither does it. But in November we get to vote for a new Council representative.

This builder left his truck with supplies. He knows no one is going to ticket them or take their supplies.

We need new leaders who see the problem and can get the job done!

September 3, 2023The Vitamin Shoppe Opened on 86th Street

The Vitamin Shoppe opened at 480 – 86th Street. For all the OG’s, this is where Nothing Fits used to be.
Time for Salad opened here in 2020-2021, but there wasn’t enough foot traffic for it to stay open.
The Vitamin Shoppe is small, but they have a good amount of items and the customer service was great!
The next store is Snipes Sneaker store – it’s very popular, so that corner is coming alive again!

September 2, 2023Three People on One Scooter in Brooklyn

When I see several people riding on a scooter, I am so worried they are going to fall off or into a car.
How are three people allowed to ride a scooter? I don’t understand how NYC Council allowed scooters without putting rules for people to follow.
Did you think they waited for the green light?

Nope. They stopped and edged up and then they went through.
