Fun on Fifth Avenue in Bay Ridge – 9/9
On Saturday, September 9th from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm, the streets will be closed on 5th Avenue between 68th Street and 81st Street for the FunOn5th Back to School Event.
SuperRoofer is a sponsor of this event, which is especially nice. Super Roofer also sponsors a really nice Christmas event with Santa in a sled.

PC’s Bar at 7115 – 5th Avenue will have Janine Vitiello at 4:30 pm
Schnitzel Haus on 5th Avenue and 73rd Street will have London Fogg from 6-9:00 pm.
Fast Forward will perform outside The Bean Post on 5th Avenue and 75th Street at 4:00 pm.
Medicare Plans at 7709 – 5th Avenue will have a DJ from 3 – 5 pm.

White Dog with Black Ears Missing – Bensonhurst
Bella is missing in Brooklyn. Bella belongs to a family and they really miss her!
Bella got out of the house this morning near Benson and Bath Avenue and 15th Avenue in Brooklyn.
‘Bella was picked up by a good woman, who saw the dog running on the street alone. The woman got into a SUV with the dog. See the video:
Bella is a Shih tsu mix and she does not have a collar or a microchip.

Do You Need Compost in Your Garden?
The Department of Sanitation is giving away compost in September and October. You can get up to 2 bags (40 lb.) for free.
*If you are carpooling, each person must bring their ticket and present ID showing a distinct address.
Saturday, September 9th – In Sunset Park 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, compost is available at Sunset Park at 6th Avenue and 44th Street. (Register here)
Sunday, September 10th – In Gravesend, compost can be picked up at PS 216 at 350 Avenue X from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. (Register here)
Thursday, September 14th – Bensonhurst Park 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm. (Register here)
Tuesday, October 3rd in Mapleton from 2-6 pm at Gravesend Park 18th Avenue between 57th and 56th St. (Register here)

RIP Gabby Shammas
Twenty-two year old Gabby Shammas died in a terrible car accident on Staten Island Expressway on Sunday, September 3rd around 11:00 pm. (News)
This beautiful, young woman from Dyker Heights lost her life in an unusual accident. Gabby was the passenger in the car.
She just completed her degree in psychology and was going to graduate school.
A Go Fund Me was set up to defray funeral costs. (See here)
Gabby was only 22-years-old and getting to the “good part” of her life. Many of her friends wrote how funny and caring she was on social media.
RIP Gabby. Prayers for Gabby’s mother, sister, brothers, friends and boyfriend.

The Brooklyn Cyclones are giving out free tickets for games this week on Tuesday and Wednesday.
They will be at the Bensonhurst TD Bank from 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 6th.
Take a team or group with you and give everyone a chance to see a Cyclones game!
