Five Story Building Coming to 79th St & 13th Ave

New York featured a corner property that is set for development. The address is 1283 – 80th Street OR 7924 – 13th Avenue. It’s across the street from La Bella Marketplace.
The new 55-foot-tall building will have 22 residences and 10 parking spaces.
In an area where the sewers and electric grid haven’t been updated, how can they put this big development? It’s called The City of Yes.
Thank Justin Brannan for excluding his home from the City of Yes. Seen here: https://shorturl.at/hzbPQ
And thank Kayla Santosuosso, Andrew Gounardes and Chris McCreight for staying silent because they thought that was equity.

January 19, 2026Kayla Santosuosso’s Inauguration Ceremony at Telecommunications High School

Photo: Rodneyse Bichotte
Yesterday morning, Kayla Santosuosso was sworn in at The High School of Telecommunications.
Unlike Justin Brannan, Santosuosso didn’t invite the community to the event. She didn’t even mention it on social media: https://www.instagram.com/councilmemberkayla
The invitation was only shared on the Independent Democrats website. https://indbrooklyn.org

See invitation here: http://tinyurl.com/KaylaInauguration

Who an elected official invites to their inauguration says a lot. Justin Brannan’s first reception welcomed the community at Xaverian High School. At his re-election reception at Gargiulo’s Restaurant in Coney Island, the casino lobbyist was among the guests.
The Arab American Society shared photos at the event. former Councilman Vincent Gentile and Josephine from Community Board 10 were in attendance.

Rodney Bichotte’s shared photos of Chuck Shumer, Brad Lander, Jumaane Williams, NYC Council Speaker Julie Menin and Justin Brannan speaking at the podium during the ceremony. Andrew Gounardes and the Democrat District leaders from Sunset Park also attended. See here: https://shorturl.at/zZ2JX
It appears to be a gathering of Democrats, which left Coney Island residents out.
Santosuosso was already sworn in at City Hall at the end of December. She shared this photo:

Strangely, this week Kayla Santosuosso spoke out for Rafael Bohorquez., a 53-year-old NYC Council data analyst from Bethpage, Long Island, who was picked up by ICE.

NYC Council says Bohorquez cleared all background checks. Info:
https://www.newsweek.com/rafael-andres-rubio-bohorquez-ice-arrest-new-york-11350312
ICE claims Bohorquez was involved in an assault. Info:
No article mentions which Council representative Bohorquez worked for. It must be a political friend of Santosuosso’s because people in Brooklyn been taken by ICE and Kayla Santosuosso hasn’t spoken out for them.
Just this week, Kayla Santosuosso didn’t say or do anything when Deacon Sebastian Ordonez from Bensonhurst was taken by ICE. The deacon does not have a criminal record, but he was one of six people targeted at an apartment building on Bay Ridge Avenue. Info: https://shorturl.at/qy6pW
Kayla Santosuosso didn’t even share this story or retweet the politician who stood up for the deacon and Brooklyn residents. Info:

January 18, 2026Democrats Are Trying to Gerrymander District 11 in Brooklyn

Nicole Malliotakis spoke with Marcia Clark on the news today about Democrats wanting to change District 11.
They want to gerrymander District 11 because Democrats are too afraid to run against Nicole Malliotakis. Our community has been gerrymandered at the city and state level to help poor politicians win.
The Democrats want to add more white liberals to the district.

January 18, 2026The 68th Precinct Confiscated More Scooters

The 68th Precinct shared that they confiscated the scooters of reckless drivers. They also said that the drivers face heavy fines or jail,
It’s good to see that there is some law enforcement on the reckless scooters. It seems like there are a lot more high school students riding scooters in the afternoon.

January 16, 2026ALL CASH BUYER For Brooklyn Building?

Realtor, Joe Zhu shared the graphic above of an “All Cash Buyer” for 516 West 5th Street.
The eight-family home was listed for $1,300,000. Info:
https://serhant.com/home-search/listings/5044340515757024338-1516-West-5th-Street
I don’t know if I am more surprised the buyers paid all cash or if the starting price was 1.3 million for an 8 family home. That’s actually a fantdstic deal if many people purchased this property together.
