Residents have the right to know what is happening in their community.
Everyone should have been made aware what streets were being used for the protest, so they know where there is going to be traffic problems and they can plan ahead. It shouldn’t be that just the politician’s staff and family know what’s going on.
On Saturday night, the police were still on 5th Avenue after the protest. Many people were worried that there was a robbery on 5th Avenue so they avoided 5th Avenue. Meaning: businesses on 5th had less customers.
If information was shared, people wouldn’t have been worried.
There was a fatal stabbing around 8:00 pm on 93rd Street tonight. (Citizen App)
The Citizen App showed that the suspect is a white male with blonde hair, blue eyes and a goatee. He was wearing a black coat and blue scarf.
Update: The Daily News story (here) NY Post story. (Here)

NYC Records are the best source for information. Today ‘s information about the homeless shelter in Bay Ridge is from the Department of Buildings Now website. (See it here)
Search by the property’s address: 6530 – 4th Avenue.
When were politicians and Community Board 10 informed?
On November 29th the plans for the homeless shelter were published on NYC’s website even though the Community Board hasn’t heard the proposal or voted.
The Rockefeller Christmas Street is 80 feet tall. This SRO is almost as big at 72 feet tall.
The Department of Buildings shows that this property was accepted to the Development Hub after a consultation meeting held on May 9th(more than 6 months ago!)
NYC Acris shows that the mortgage was tax exempt in April 2023.
The layout of the homeless shelter is there – cafeteria in the Sub Cellar 1.
The Floors 1-7 are for Congregate Living – Homeless Shelter.
Leaders in Bay Ridge would have shared these plans with the community if they represented the community.
The documents refer to this building as a SRO. A Bay Ridge resident wrote that this was a shelter for homeless veterans and their families…..No this is a SRO – Single Resident Occupancy.
There is no mention of Veteranson any of the documents.
Could the placement of a homeless shelter in a community in Brooklyn be this far along without someone approving it?
Anyone telling you that this building is not being build until 2025, doesn’t know what is going on in our community.
There are already complaints about this property:
For the Admin on the Bay Ridge Talk Facebook Page: there is no one “to confirm” this with because Councilman Brannan saidhe was only aware of this project two weeks ago and Senator Gounardes is silent as usual. NYC’s records = primary source!
Troop 9318 in Bay Ridge is selling wreaths for $25.00.
They will deliver them to you in Bay Ridge only. Order one here.Send one to your Mom, aunt and friend too!Help the scouts get new camping equipment and a banner!

UPDATE: 12/1/23 – Paperwork was filed with the NYC Department of Buildings for a seven story homeless shelter – SRO. (See here)
The developer is already taking down the building. The fence they put up does not look good. And why is there so much garbage there? (This photo was taken today 11/30/23.)
If you believe that leaders in this community only knew about the homeless shelter planned for Bay Ridge for the past two weeks, I have a bridge to sell ya!
