The 62nd Police Precinct attended the event to welcome the new City Council Member.

Marks Jewish Community House is a lot different than Garguilo’s Restaurant, where Councilman Brannan will be having his inauguration.

When Brannan had his first inauguration, he did it at Xaverian High School. I wonder why he didn’t embrace Coney Island and hold the event at a school there?
Brannan said there is still room for people to attend the January 28th inauguration. (Register here)

January 20, 2024Brooklyn Politicians Reach Across The Table

A few days ago, the Southern Democrats held a New Year’s celebration at The Bay Ridge Manor. They shared pictures of everyone have a good time and dancing on private social media accounts.
While I scrolled through the photos, I saw the head of the Kings Country Republicans, Richie Barsamian, sitting at a table in the photos. I wondered if they invited him or if he went incognito and they didn’t know.

Today, the photo above was shared on X (formerly Twitter) and people were talking about it. So I asked Barsamian about it!
In the Fall, Ted Ghorra quietly stepped down and Richard Barsamian became the GOP Party Leader. Barsamian’s leadership is different from Ghorra’s in that he reached out to Democrats and even invited them to the Republican’s holiday party.
The Democrats invited Barsamian to their party in return.
There’s no drama between Ghorra and Barsamian either because the two were photographed together at the Republican Christmas Party at The Bay Ridge Manor in December.
While this wasn’t a juicy story of a Republican Party Boss sneaking into a Democrat’s event, maybe this was a turning point in politics, where people work together and help build Brooklyn!

Update: Republicans aren’t buying it. This reminded them of “Michael Grimm’s nonsense” from years ago. They did not want to see the Republican Party Boss partying with Progressive Democrats. Republicans told me that they don’t work with radicals – they seek to defeat them in elections.

Today, Johnny’s Pizzeria announced they were closing on January 24, 2024 after being in business for 56 years! Everyone who lived around OLPH has great memories of eating pizza from Johnny’s with their friends.
Stop in and enjoy your last slice from one of the best pizzerias in Brooklyn! They also deliver to Bay Ridge 718-492-9735 (yes they make the heart-shaped pizza too!)

Dear Valued Customers and Patrons of Johnny’s Pizzeria,
We are writing to inform you all that the time has come for Johnny’s Pizzeria to close its doors after serving the Sunset Park Community daily since our father, John Miniaci Senior established this place of business in 1968.
Although this decision has not come easy for us, we would like to be sincere in telling you that it is the right decision, as we are set to begin our retirements. Therefore, our last day of business serving you all will be on Wednesday, January 24th 2024.
We would like to Thank the many lifelong friends who have become like family to us from the community. You have shown us kindness and loyalty over the almost 56 years that we have been in business. We would not have been able to be successful for so many years without your support and loyalty. It has truly been an honor to serve you all.
We would like to acknowledge the many years of hard work and dedication put forth by all our employees who we call Family. Your willingness to work alongside us and meet the expectations of our customers daily will never be forgotten or taken for granted. Without your help, we would not have been able to open the doors for so many years. We wish you and your families well as you may pursue new endeavors in your lives.
As we move forward, it is our hope that God will Bless the Sunset Park Community with peace, health and prosperity. We will hold all the memories which we have made together close within our hearts.
Sincerely,
John, Louie, Rocco and Families @louisminiaci @mustangride1

Good luck to John and his staff! Happy Retirement! Thanks for the great pizza and good memories!
