Sad news I saw on television tonight: Home Depot on Hamilton Avenue will be closed because part of the parking garage collapsed and they have to repair the roof. Thankfully, there was no injuries – story here

Jewelry Thieves – 14th Avenue and 74th Street
The jewelry thieves were riding around in a white Mercedes in Dyker Heights.
They were on 14th Avenue and 74th Street again.
The resident who shared the information wanted people to be aware. She thought the thieves might be aware of OLG’s mass schedule because it was the same day and time again.

RIP Donetta – She Made So Many People Happy
When I opened Facebook, I saw all the messages that Donetta Riley had died.
If you attended a children’s party in Bay Ridge, you probably met the one and only ~ Donetta Riley.
Donetta was the woman singing and making the magic happen at birthday parties! She got everyone involved and made everyone laugh. While Donetta lived in Washington Heights, many people thought she lived in Bay Ridge because she was at so many parties here!
Our four-year-old goddaughter stood perfectly still as Donetta painted a butterfly on her face. As she drew, Donetta spoke to her in the sweetest voice. When Donetta applied glitter, all the little girls were amazed and couldn’t wait to be next.
The party wouldn’t be complete without Donetta twisting balloons into hats, musical instruments and cute animal. At every party, she had something new to show the kids (but the adults were just as captivated).
Donetta loved art and music and she shared that with everyone she met. She taught art at several places including the Hudson Cliffs School. During the Pandemic, she brought her magic to Zoom:
Donetta didn’t lose her fight to cancer – she fought and lived after doctors said she would die.
She’s in Heaven with God and without pain now. I imagine by the weekend, she will be twisting up some magic up there!
Donetta will be missed by everyone who was blessed to know her.
She was 52 years old and she brought so much joy to so many people.
Prayers for Roy, her family and friends who will be missing her bright light.

Cloudy Smoke Convenience Didn’t Have a Good Day in Bay Ridge – NYPD

Cloudy Smoke Convenience on 3rd Avenue and 75th Street doesn’t look like it had a good day.
Nadine shared a video to give everyone the heads up (here). The store had items confiscated.
This shop has been operating for years. And for years NYS has not received the taxes we were told these cannabis shops would bring.

Hunters Restaurant Has Free Parking – Bay Ridge
You wrote to me and asked if Hunter’s Steak and Ale House has free parking. Yes, their customers get two hour complimentary parking.

Taquitos Y Cafe is Opening Across From Staples
Taquitos Y Cafe is opening on 5th Avenue and 93rd Street – across the street from Staples. It’s read like Taquitos and Cafe.
This location has had a lot of luck being a Mexican restaurant, so send out some prayers and good wishes to this owner.
Tacos Casa Flowers opened at this location in June 2023. (See here)
Before that, it was Taqueria El Punte, a well known shop owned by Josephine and her family. Many people still miss them and their guacamole!

Why Are These Vehicles on the Sidewalk? Because There is No Leadership in Bay Ridge
Almost three years ago, a woman was killed outside of a dealership. (See here)
Politicians told us that there would be no more parking on the sidewalk. But since no one follows up, Signature Auto is parking on the sidewalk.
