Lunar New Year Celebration in Bath Beach

There was a Lunar New Year celebration at The Federation of Italian American Organization today. (See video)

Congresswoman Malliotakis, Senator Iwen Chu, Councilwoman Susan Zhuang, Councilwoman Alexa Aviles, Councilman David Carr, Assemblyman Lester Chang and Assemblyman Abbate are present.

I like that Congresswoman Malliotakis and Councilman David Carr (man with the beard) came from Staten Island to attend the event and let the people know they are important to them. Being present is important!

There is a family in Bath Beach, Brooklyn celebrating the return of their dog this weekend.

In September, Bella got out and video showed that someone picked up the eight-month-old dog.

This week, Bella appeared on ACC’s (Animal Care and Control). She was named Gerry by ACC employees and she looked a lot different because she lost weight and wasn’t fluffy..

Yesterday, Bella visited the dog salon and looks more like herself (scroll down for new pic).

We are so happy Bella is back home!

Police Officers Beat Up – Prosecutors Requested Bail -Suspects Freed No Bail

Four men who were arrested for beating up police officers.

The NY Courts Database shows that the prosecutors requested bail:

Yet the four men were released without bail.

The Daily News is reporting that they got a church to give then bus tickets to California and left NYC. (Story here)

How were these men released without bail? Patrick Hendry, PBA Pres Called on the public to write to local politicians.

Senator Andrew Gounardes tweets a lot of nonsense onto X (formerly Twitter) but he didn’t bother mentioning the officers being hurt. Gounardes voted to change the bail laws, but he takes no responsibility for the law failing to protect law enforcement officers! During election time, Gounardes never forgets to tell us that his friend is a police office. Why didn’t Gounardes speak out for the officers who were hurt?

Politicians Can’t Throw Tokens in Brooklyn During Black History Month – DO SOMETHING!

Senator Gounardes does not use social media well. He is either fighting with Republicans on X (formerly Twitter) or posting graphics to make it look like he did something, when he hasn’t done anything, except make the graphic.

Senator Gounardes has the ability to change the law and and make things equitable for people, but he has failed to do this for five years.

Gounardes is in Chair of the Budget and Revenue in the NYS Senator, so he should have been working on adjusting taxes, instead he started promoting Congestion Pricing. I believe he makes extra money heading this committee, but fails to act for New Yorkers.

In 2019, Gounardes met with political leaders from other areas of NYC and it looked like he was going to do something, but he didn’t do anything, except post a picture of their meeting. (Info here)

In New York City, Bay Ridge is not the only place where people are being overcharged in property taxes.

Every year, someone in NYC writes about how black home owners in NYC are being overcharged property taxes. (See here)

It’s 2024 – Why hasn’t anyone fixed the property tax system so black homeowners are not paying more to own a home? We have so many people who want to be state leaders, but they don’t believe in equity or taking action.

Why did Senator Gounardes make a “token graphic” for Black History month, instead of taking action for people?

Strangely, Senator Gounrades linked to an article about abolitionists homes in Brooklyn. One of those homes was owned by a black woman who fought NYC, as they tried to take her home by eminent domain!

Senator Gounardes represented a small part of Coney Island for years, but he didn’t take action to honor or promote the people there.

Now the new gerrymandered district has Gounardes posting a “token graphic” for Black History Month, instead of taking action. Property taxes favor rich white homeowners. (See here)

Equity means everyone pays their share – no property discounts. The property tax commission came back years ago with the rate, why did Andrew Gounardes fail to take action?

—————————————–

The Bay Ridge Democrats also posted a Black History Month graphic on X, but they shared they are going to honor some people, so let’s see what they do this month.

Politicans in Bay Ridge need to stop wasting time making and posting graphics – they aren’t helping anyone. Take action and use social media to promote the action.
