Democrats Didn’t Get Their Way on NY 11’s Congressional Map

The New York Independent Redistricting Commission voted today on a new set of district lines. (See new maps)

This is the important part to see which way the district leans (it’s on the right of the maps (here)

Very few changes were made on the NYC maps. The news said the changes were mostly made to the upstate maps. Online people said the changes were done to protect two incumbents – one in District 18 (Pat Ryan, a Democrat) and the other in District 19 (Marc Molinaro, a Republican).

I have a feeling the Democrats will cry about these lines. If lawmakers reject The Independent Redistricting Commission’s maps, they would have make new maps fast, as petitioning for the primary elections begins on February 27th.

Good Shepherd Church Paid the $15,000 Bail For a Man Involved in the Times Square Incident

We have all seen the video of the police and a group of young men fighting with them in Times Square on January 27th. (Story here) (Video here)

Six men were arrested and five were freed. The news said some of these men went to California or Florida.

Today, three of them were arrested in the Bronx. (See here)

One 24-year-old man, Yohenry Brito was charged with robbery and felony assault. He has been in jail since the end of January. Today, the newspaper sad that Yohenry’s bail was paid by Good Shepherd Church in Bay Ridge. (Source)

I thought maybe Yohenry didn’t understand English and that’s why he wasn’t walking away when the police asked him to. But an officer spoke to him in Spanish and asked him to move along as seen in this video. (Yohenry’s wearing the yellow jacket).

Pastor Carlos Ruiz from Good Shepherd Church said in the newspaper that “there is a lot more than what is being publicized.”

Pastor Carlos Ruiz from Good Shepherd Church put up the bail so he must know something else about the Times Square incident.

Gounardes Was at The Mayor’s Presser on Crime…Even Though He Never Talks About Crime

Yesterday, Carvel was robbed in the early afternoon. Senator Andrew Gounardes didn’t say or do anything.

Gounardes didn’t tweet about the robbery, and he didn’t go visit the shop to see if they were alright. He has no solutions for our community.

But there are plenty of ridiculous graphics being made:

And sadly, many of you are fooled by the graphics.

Today, Mayor Adams is on television talking about the Times Square Assault with the NYPD and the migrants. Gounardes is in the back of the mayor nodding along as if he has always spoken out against crime.

Andrew Gouanardes never mentions crime. That’s why a lot of people think he doesn’t live in this community.

Isn’t everyone tired of these publicity stunts? Why won’t this senator work for the community and get things done for the community?

Gounardes held a meeting about taxes, but only announced the meeting this morning. There was no video for the meeting, but I asked him to post it. I doubt he will as Gounardes has not been good about speaking out for Bay Ridge home owners.

Did You Want A Cannabis Store Here, Bay Ridge?

An applicant for a new cannabis dispensary was at Community Board 10s Police and Public safety meeting tonight.

Community Board 10’s Police and Public safety committee never talks discusses policing, even though a police officer was present at tonight’s meeting over Zoom. This committee only discusses liquor licenses for businesses and cannabis dispensaries in our neighborhood. (See video)

The new dispensary is being planned for at 8610 – 4th Avenue.

The owner of the property wrote a letter that this store has a month-to-month lease and he will be renting to this cannabis dispensary owner if she gets approved for a license.

This dispensary would not be 1000 feet away from another dispensary that already applied for a license, so this location would not be approved unless the other dispensary was denied.

This shop would be open each day from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm – 70 hours a week.

Senator Andrew Gounardes voted in favor of cannabis being sold in NY. Gounardes has not taken action to close the illegal dispensaries throughout our community.

Parc Oasis Restaurant is Opening in Bay Ridge

Parc Oasis Restaurant will be opening at 8703 – 5th Avenue. For many years this location was Lonestar Bar. The restaurant owner said at the Community Board 10 meeting that his brother owns the building!

There is a Parc Oasis on 11th Avenue between 64th and 65th Street already. (See their menu here) At the Community Board 10 Meeting, the owner said they serve oysters (and I believe he said lobster rolls).

A local business owner spoke at a CB 10 meeting because he was glad this location was going to be filled by a new restaurant! We are glad too!
