A Month After Maria Santos Flores’ Death – No Arrest and No Update From the 68th Precinct

Last month, Maria Santos Flores was found dead in her home on 85th Street. No one was charged with her death.

The 68th Precinct investigated and didn’t arrest anyone. And the 68th Precinct failed to provide any information to the community. CaptainVincenti has not publicly announced an arrest or identified a suspect.

In the weeks that followed Flores’ death, Bay Ridge residents asked for updates, but no politicians or police have provided any information.

Brooklyn residents remember Phil Guarino’s death in July 2022. Guarino was a 28-year-old man from Queens. He was killed and his body was brought to Dyker Heights and left in the back of someone’s driveway on 72nd Street in Dyker Heights. Eric Gonzalez, the Brooklyn District Attorney has not shared any charges relating to the concealment of a human corpse, tampering with evidence, or related offenses in connection with Philip Guarino’s death. There are cameras everywhere, how was no one charged? Guarino’s mother shared that the Medical Examiner found a fractured bone in Phil’s neck and that drugs were not the cause of death. Is a Greek Diner Becoming a Grocery Store?

Emphasis Diner at 6822 – 4th Avenue closed in January after being in business for 21 years in Bay Ridge. Will it be converted into a grocery store?

Everyone wants to open a grocery store these days. Foodtown 2 just opened at on 69th Street and 4th Avenue (no relation to the Foodtown on 3rd Avenue).

The owners of the Emphasis Diner are the new owners of the Royal Diner at 7609 – 5th Avenue.

Graffiti on 92nd Street & 4th Avenue

Graffiti continues in Bay Ridge.

NYC Council Representative, Kayla Santosuosso owned a business on this block. This is an easy fix -> Tell the property owner to clean it or be fined.

Why hasn’t Santosuosso or Gounardes taken action?

No One Who Has Lived In Bay Ridge Would Believe a Business is Allowed To Leave Graffiti Up Like This

Photo: John Q.

The AT&T Store at 453-86th Street has a lot of graffiti on the gate.

This is an easy situation for an elected leader to correct.

A quick call or a letter to the owner saying they will be ticketed in two weeks if the graffiti is not removed will motivate that owner.

Only two of our elected leaders live in Bay Ridge – Kayla Santosuosso and Andrew Gounardes.

Don’t they see the graffiti?

This week, Kayla Santosuosso voted to give herself a pay raise to $175,500. Santosuosso’s current salary as a NYC Council representative is $148,500 and includes excellent healthcare and a pension.

See the bill: https://shorturl.at/Dinoy and Kayla Santosuosso’s vote:

How does a politician who has barely done anything in office vote to raise their OWN salary? NYC Council Speaker, Julie Menin abstained from the vote – Why didn’t Kayla?

At least Mayor Zohran Mamdani was decent and he didn’t accept the pay increase that NYC Council gave him.

Andrew Gounardes Failed to Make a Plan So The Redhook Pool Isn’t Closed a Third Time

Andrew Gounardes is a social media politician. He doesn’t do his job as elected leader.

For two years in a row, the Redhook pool has been closed because of a broken part. By now Andrew Gounardes should have made a plan to have backup parts and to check the Redhook pool at the beginning of May. But all the community gets is a social media post.
