Boom Heard This Moring in Brooklyn

Around 11:20 am this morning, residents in Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Bensonhurst heard a loud boom and thought they felt the aftermath of an earthquake shaking their home.

Update: Channel 1 Spectrum News reported about it in the afternoon and said residents in NY and NJ heard it. The news reporter said the sound could have come from a military aircraft going too fast because they haven’t found any other sources for the sound.

Update 2: Meteorologist Nick Pittman said the sound was caused by a meteor that burned up in the atmosphere!

Update 3: Channel 4 concurs with the meteor, but they don’t know if it caused the sound/shaking.

Alexa Aviles is Explaining The City of Yes Housing Opportunity on Wednesday, July 17th

Alexa Aviles represents parts of Dyker Heights and Bensonhurst in NYC Council after redistricting.

While Alexa Aviles supported the City of Yes, she pushed back on it because she wanted companies like Amazon not to be able to setup a delivery warehouse without applying for a special permit.

On Wednesday, July 17th from 6:30 – 7:30 pm, Aviles will have an online meeting to explain the City of Yes Housing Opportunity.

Councilman Justin Brannan hasn’t offered anything like this because he doesn’t communicate well with the community as a whole (just certain Facebook groups).

Russian Manicure Nail Salon Opens in Bay Ridge

Photo: Jeffrey Desmond

2 Mood Nails opened at 7620 – 3rd Avenue. You can make an appointment here.

The sign has the cost of the gel manicure and pedicure:

If you are thinking, “Oh no – not another nail salon in Bay Ridge.” You don’t know nails. Women who do, will be glad that a Russian Manicure place opened in Bay Ridge.

Russian manicures became more popular because of Tiktok, but women have been getting them for many years.

From: 2 Mood Nails

What’s different about a Russian manicure? It is a manicure that lasts and looks natural. It’s more time consuming because it is a very detailed manicure that takes care of the nail and the cuticle, so it looks perfect.
