Dealerships Parking on the Sidewalk in Bay Ridge
Three years ago, Bay Ridge resident, Carol Langdon was killed as a car pulled out of a dealership. (Info) The Volkswagon dealership told Bay Ridge they would not have vehicles parked on the sidewalk any longer.
Other dealerships, like this BMW dealership on 4th Avenue and 93rd Street are using the sidewalk as their parking lot. (Photo above)
United Jeep dealership on 5th Avenue and 88th Street also parks cars on the sidewalk. (Photo above was taken two weeks ago). Many people don’t appreciate the Jeep SUV blocking the crosswalk.
Bay Ridge, elect leaders who are in the neighborhood and care about people’s safety.

May 30, 2024Painted Rocks Needed for Relay for Life Event

Relay for Life is a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society happening in Bay Ridge on June 8th. We have been asked to paint rocks again this year for the treat bags given to cancer survivors who attend. They were so well received and appreciated these past two years.
Please consider painting a few rocks that center on the themes of hope, courage, love, faith or incorporate the colors and symbols of Relay for Life such as the purple ribbons or white daisies.
Comment on this thread or send me a private message to let me know if we can count on you or to coordinate a pick up or drop off. Let’s aim for a soft deadline of June 1 for a goal of 100 rocks so that we have time to get them to event organizers.

On Tuesday morning, a DIV drove into a pole on 68th Street and 6th Avenue.
The pole fell into the home and damaged the home and fence. The driver did not go to the hospital.

Go Go Skating opened at 641-62nd Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn last month.
The place looks great – wood floors and nice lighting.

May 28, 2024Cannabis Dispensary For Pilo Arts Location? Meeting on Monday, June 10th
Rman Holdings LLC put in a dispensary application for 8312 – 3rd Avenue.
Community Board 10 will hold a meeting on Zoom or in person at the District Office on June 10th at 7:00 pm for anyone who is against this dispensary to speak out.
It’s sad that anyone thinks this is a good location for cannabis to be sold in our neighborhood. This person must not know Bay Ridge at all!
Another dispensary already put in an application for 8610 – 4th Avenue, which seems like a better location. I am not sure this one can be so close (unless that one gets denied). (Info here)
Senator Andrew Gounardes didn’t take into account some things when he voted in favor of cannabis shops.
One of the things Gounardes failed to understand is that these shops are all cash businesses and many of them get robbed. People don’t want to live near them! Do you think other stores or beautiful restaurants want to be near that?
There must be a very happy real estate agent in our area as this 3,200 sq. ft. property cost $16,000 a month.
