Thank you to everyone who shared the sign about two people who are selling fentanyl in Bay Ridge. I have also seen sign on 3rd Avenue.
I contacted a 68th precinct officer last weekend and I have not heard back from him.

RIP Reba. Protest at 11:00 am Saturday, 8/31
The beautiful dog in these photos is Reba.
Reba died on Wednesday, August 28th. The NYPD is investigating this death.
Bay Ridge animal lovers will be holding a protest tomorrow at 11:00 am outside of 9514 – 4th Avenue. (See protest)

Braulio “Gil” Aguilar is Missing in Brooklyn
Update: FOUND!
Braulio Aguilar is a 72-year-old man, who has been missing for over 24 hours. He left the house on 59th Street and 4th Avenue around 1:15 pm.
His grandchildren were looking for him at the park.

Mabel the Cat is Missing in Bay Ridge
Mabel was reunited.
Mabel clawed through the window screen and onto the fire escape in the middle of the night. Her family is heartbroken.
Mabel, the cat was last seen on 68th Street and Shore Road. She is a black cat with white on her legs and chest.

Andrew Gounardes Returns From Vacation and Makes a Video About a Bill from 2023 Instead of Working to Restore NYS Funds to Afterschool
For a lot of August, Senator Andrew Gounardes was away in Greece.
Senator Gounardes did not attend the Brooklyn Marine Terminal’s Meeting on August 12th (See here) or District 20’s CEC Meeting on August 18th.
Instead of getting to work on restoring NYS Funding for Afterschool programs in his district, Gounardes filmed a video patting himself on the back for a bill that passed in November 2023. Gounardes announced the bill back in November. (Info)

Gounardes has been pushing this bill for years. In 2022, it passed both the NYS Senate and Assembly, but Governor Hochul vetoed the bill because she worried that this would cost NYS several million dollars annually because more Department of Labor Staff would be needed. (Source) Andrew Gounardes failed to mention these costs!
Here’s what else Andrew Gounardes didn’t tell you: NYC already has laws to protect freelancers. They were passed in 2017. (See here)
Today, Brad Lander bragged about passing the freelancer laws in 2016:
If freelancers in NYC were protected since 2017, why did Senator Gounardes push a bill for the rest of the state instead of working for Brooklyn residents?
Why didn’t a senator from upstate or Long Island push this bill?
The man standing to the right of Gounardes is Rafael Espinal. He was a NYC Councilman, who stepped down and became the head of the Freelancers Union. It’s interesting that he was able to get Gounardes to push his bill.
Why can’t Brooklyn residents get help from Senator Gounardes?
For six years, Andrew Gounardes has been in office and failed to make property taxes fair. Gounardes made a lot of campaign promises he didn’t keep. Andrew Gounardes said he was going to opening a new high school and fix Shore Road, but he didn’t do either of those things.
Why hasn’t Andrew Gounardes troubleshooted problems in Bay Ridge? It’s easier to tweet a video and make you think he did something!
