August 7, 2024Why Didn’t Senator Gounardes Take Action for Bay Ridge After a Woman Died on 7th Ave.?

Today, Senator Andrew Gounardes shared that he was working on street safety in Downtown Brooklyn.
Why did Senator Gounardes take action in Downtown Brooklyn after a person died, but failed to do anything in Bay Ridge, when Aihong Qu died on 7th Avenue in June? (See here)
Neither Senator Gounardes or Councilman Brannan mentioned Aihong’s name. Years ago, the pols would have a candle ceremony. Now if they don’t say her name, people won’t know and they don’t have to do anything.
Senator Gounardes should have had the street inspected, so that another accident like this does not occur.
In July, I asked Senator Gounardes and some Bay Ridge groups on social media, why no action was taken? Since I am not a lobbyist, the Senator did not answer.
