June 29, 2024Dirty Streets on 8th Avenue and 86th Street – Susan Zhuang Held a Town Hall

People in Bensonhurst are angry that illegal vending is happening on 86th Street. Councilwoman Susan Zhuang held a town hall meeting.

People complained about 8th Avenue and 86th Street near Bay Parkway are the worst. (Story and video)

Pix News revealed that store owners were illegally renting the space in front of their shop to these vendors! (Info)
People are upset that vendors are cooking on the street. One resident said that the meeting, “Do something about it – don’t talk.”
The amount of garbage is substantial. One woman said she was embarrassed about where she lived because the streets are so dirty.
Years ago, Ari Kagan had the area cleaned up. The vendors returned and he had to have someone clear the area consistently.
Councilwoman Zhuang said that she wants to set up one area where people can sell items. I am surprised she didn’t clear the whole street like Kagan did.

For almost a year, his Faridun’s family had to wait for his killer to be captured. This doesn’t bring back their son, but maybe their healing can begin.

June 27, 2024Next Steps on the City of Yes – July 10th

NYC’s Planning Commission is proceeding with a meeting in the Summer. CB 10 and Justin Brannan said changes would be made to the City of Yes, but we haven’t seen any changes!
While many families are on vacation, they decided to have a City for Yes for Housing Opportunity meeting on Wednesday, July 10th at 10:00 am. (Info on the City of Yes)
If there is a low turnout, they will say people did not care.
You can also join the meeting on the computer. Info (here and here)
The public hearing will be held in person at the Planning Commission Hearing Room, Lower Concourse at 120 Broadway in Manhattan.
In November, there was a meeting about the City of Yes at St. Anselm’s, Senator Andrew Gounardes was present, but he did not speak or offer the community any information at that meeting.
In December, we saw Senator Andrew Gounardes was supporting the City of Yes, even though he never shared that information in his flyers, at the public meeting or at Community Board 10’s Meeting in November. (Info here)

June 27, 2024Tannousis Spoke Out For Bay Ridge During the MTA’s Meeting

Assemblyman Michael Tannousis submitted this testimony to the MTA’s Congestion Pricing hearing.
I testified yesterday at the @MTA Board hearing regarding the Governor’s pause on congestion pricing. By their own evidence, congestion pricing would have been to the benefit of a few but to the detriment of many. It would have caused traffic and congestion in the outer boroughs,… pic.twitter.com/c25y6zsZod
— Mike Tannousis (@MikeTannousis) June 27, 2024
Tannousis stated that Congestion Pricing would hurt Bay Ridge and Staten Island while benefitting Manhattan residents.
Tannousis said that he saw six fare evaders getting onto the subway and that by ending fare invasion, the MTA will have enough money for upkeep.

June 27, 2024Andrew Gounardes Stood in His Driveway to Do a Zoom Meeting for Congestion Pricing

Yesterday, our social media Senator, Andrew Gounardes shared a photo of himself on a bus. He wrote that he was on a bus after dropping his kids off at school. Gounardes’ base of anti-car people (Transalt) must have loved that!
Minutes later, Gounardes was standing in his driveway, next to the siding on his home, speaking about why Congestion Pricing is needed.
Gounardes didn’t bother attending the meeting in Manhattan and he didn’t even make a plan to sit down in his office and speak at the meeting. (See video)
Senator Gounardes DID NOT think of any alternate ways for the MTA to raise funds. Gounardes backers, like Transalt want Congestion Pricing!
Assemblyman Mike Tannousis said there are other ways to raise the money. (See here)
Gounardes said he was supporting Brad Lander (Lander says he is a socialist – see here) and Assemblyman Robert Carroll.
Why would a politician from Brooklyn support a plan that will hurt Brooklynites?
In 2023, Andrew Gounardes told Brooklyn that we would have six minute subway service. That never came to Bay Ridge. (See here) Residents are tired of Gounardes’ nonsense. (See here)

Yesterday, Gounardes spent the rest of the day welping (his word) about things that couldn’t happen because he didn’t want to think of other ways to fund the MTA.

We need leaders who can easily make new plans. Senator Gounardes would rather play on social media with the anti-car people.
Andrew Gounardes wrote: Laughing out loud so much for this.
